Sounds pretty accurate, maybe a little generous.
Although this is an improvement from Tuesday, that sets the bar very low so no credit for that. We're still lacking the determination and grit to be first to the ball and once again are completely lacking any cutting edge.
Shout out to the Notts fans on the beers, I just opened another can of Sheffield's finest Abbeydale craft beer.
We have been better than Tuesday (not that we could have got much worse) but the two questions I have after watching us generally dominate play but create no chances of note are:
1.) How hard is it to put in a decent cross?
2.) How hard is it to put in a decent set piece delivery?
I don’t think it’s been that bad, we’re playing further up the pitch and more direct. Also showing more fight and desire to win first and 2nd balls and if Effiong had more composure should have scored a simple header from a great cross by O’Brien.
On the whole it’s much better, Enzio, O’Brien and Miller probably our best players and we look much more coherent than previously. It just needs a goal and the confidence will return.
Ardley rightly gets criticised but when Effiong holds the ball well up on the left wing and it seems to take a calender month for our left back or the midfield to come into view to want the ball you think what the hell is going on, where is the energy and desire to win?
As with many games recently if we are going to win this game then we may have to wait for a moment of individual brilliance. I do think that Ellis appears to be a good signing (I hope I've not cursed it) as he looks like a Rawlinson no nonsense central defender. He has slotted in well.
If it's still 0-0 after an hour then I think we should pull JOB and Effiong and bring on Rodrigues and Sam to try something different for the last half an hour and go for it and get that win which will be the biggest boost to confidence.
