Thread: Match Thread vs. Wealdstone FC 13.03.21 [NL]

The re-shaped defence worked very well for us today and I was impressed by Miller amongst others. There was less of the pointless passing around the half way line and in defence, which was another good sign. We still need to be more incisive up front though, as the number of good chances created today didn’t reflect our overall dominance.

Encouraging signs of improvement, now let’s keep it up.

That lard@rse had a whale of a time during his brief time on the pitch.
My,how he blubbered as they escorted him away.

Exactly Elite Pie. A team can be an average kind of team, and still be promoted via playoffs , in the end it all comes down to 2 0r 3 games, who knows we might start playing well by then, but at least we should get a shot

Job done, 3 points, nice to see a defender on the scoresheet.

Hopefullly the permission for Ellis to stay up cane from Ardley, which along with the different formation and playing style would indicate he's thinking out of the box and is more open minded than I've been giving him credit for.

I wonder if the players private meeting had anything to do with the change in formation & play. Was an ideal game to try out against a team at the bottom than near the top.

Morning Pete I was thinking that myself.
The thing about the players meeting raises the question that why after 2 and a half seasons has Ardley decided to change his favoured style.
Are the players now managing the club or has it took NA all that time realise his adopted style isn't working?
There are Two ways of looking at this.

ONE - hes a football genius and has a very flexible approach to management.
TWO - the fact that it took the players meeting to identify what's been going wrong just highlights what a poor manager he his.
    You decide.?

I'm pretty sure there are more than TWO ways of looking at this.

If the players are now managing the club as suggested and performances don't improve which players should be sack?

Neither. I think yesterday he played squad players rather than his first choice line up due to injuries, fatigue or a shortage of confidence. I think his hand had been forced. I put in earlier threads that with the players available I would go 3-5-2 and more direct. Whilst Cal Roberts is injured I believed it to be a formation that just about our whole squad would be comfortable in. Even Turner wouldn’t be exposed with 2 other CB’s with him.
Many on here had bemoaned the fact that players were not playing in their favoured positions. Playing a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 with one natural winger made us unbalanced. So the change in tactics seemed sensible. We got a solid if unspectacular performance.
Let’s see what happens Tuesday with selections and formations.
