    O/T Blood Donor

I have been a blood donor for 40 odd years, gave blood 2 weeks ago, first time for just over 12 month's, due to being told by Rotherham Hospital not to give blood, in case they sent for me at short notice for my new hip operation.

I received a e-mail & a letter about 6 weeks since, from the Blood Donors saying that, unless I gave blood before my 70th birthday in June, I would not be able to give blood again.
So I booked a donor session, gave blood.
Today I received a e-mail & a text from the blood donors, which told me what has happened to my blood, turns out it went to a centre in Manchester, to be checked, then my blood was sent to Leicester General Hospital to be used.
Never had this information sent before, nice to know where it ends up.

ELK, nice to actually see where it was used. I bet it makes you feel proud.

I've recently signed up to donate again. Stopped donating after they stopped the blood bus coming to my place of work, they said it was costing too much down time by the donors. Not donated for well over 15 years.

Good news, with giving blood, I can carry on being a donor, after my 70th birthday.

If you have the covid jab, you have to have a 7 day break period, to donate blood.
