Takes me back a while rA. Captaining a cricket team around 1990-ish, we were short a man and we had a young Sikh lad in the U14s who could bat and was a lethal leg spinner. I phoned him and asked him if he would like a game with the seniors. He jumped at it, I knew he would. Back at the clubhouse at tea, one of the oppo made the "jest" of "hope your head soon gets better". I grabbed the idiot, put him up against the wall and explained how wrong it was of him to make racist comments (technically it wasn't racist it was religionist), why he should apologise and what might happen if he didn't (a definite reporting to the KNCB whose office was in our pavillion and I knew the entire commitee very well through business, socialising and of course through cricket plus unspecified other things that might happen). Ravi got the apology. I then approached the idiot again and apologised as I shouldn't have put him up aganst the wall as I did and finished off by telling him that he was the real culprit and had noone to blame but himself for what had happened.

15 years earlier I would probably have chinned the lad. One mellows with age it seems.
