It's strange how people look on managers especially after they've walked out on you but... whatever you think of Neilson his record in Scotland is good....we all agree the championship is a tough league to get out of he's played 3 won 3...won the league with Rangers in it by over 20points came to you lot when it looked like you were never coming up had the league won by Christmas... he's won the league again this year and his time in the SPL he had Hearts in 3rd place...he seems to be a character that is disliked wherever he goes but whatever reason that is it can't be his managerial record in Scotland

I know that but it was a serious question... obviously results like last night wouldn't help any manager...but he is a winner with United and Hearts and their fans seem to hate him more than anyone

Would not say hate him but don't really like him much after the way he left making deals with levein way back at the christmas then dropping us in it.Watching his teams is not much fun either.Saying that three championship titles out of three are good going.

He was a negative bassa, who continually over thought things. As another poster said, his fist pumping at taking St Mirren to the lottery of pens in the play-off was embarrassing, when he should have tried to take advantage of them being down to 10 men.
His continuous “tombola” team selection also frustrated the life out of many of us.

Apologies it was his first full season he got you up so considering what he had to come in and clean up was still a decent effort...but like I said earlier it was a genuine question why Neilson is so disliked given his track record

Shankland got us up, not Neilson. We'd have been lucky to make the playoffs had it not been for Shankland's goals. Neilson got very lucky. His team selections were woeful. Square pegs, round holes, never consistent, playing his favourites at the expense of players in form, not seeing his mistakes. His style of football was as turgid as they come. Had it not been for our good early season form we'd have been nowhere near the top when the season was pulled. One win in seven or eight or something. There was a few of us who spoke out against him most of the season and a lot of us who weren't sad to see him leave.

100% correct. The players got us over the line despite him. There was fans on here giving us criticism for having a pop at him. He's able to do ok when he has a good budget and the player quality gets him over the line.
Never a coach in a million years.
