MillersMad Matchthread - Barnsley v The Millers

Come on hands up who thought Barnsley were going to struggle this season! I certainly did and a few more of you are on record saying the same.

It's a funny business this football lark. Normally we can tell what's going to happen in the majority of games but blimey this season has thrown up some real surprises. We're winning away games for a change in this division but not doing as well as we'd expect to do at home.

I'm trying to be uplifting but I'm struggling a bit today.

Normally we all have different views on a game and clearly still do even though now we're all watching the same match, from the same angle sat in our own living rooms watching the same broadcast. We can all see what's going off on the pitch yet we all draw different conclusions to what we've seen. You can even get comments about what would have happened in the same position if another player that had never played for us was playing.
We're not seeing the runs off the ball that we'd normally see. We're not sat next to our best mate who's spotted something that you didn't. We're not having to stand up to let someone pass who forgot to go for a pîss before kick off. We're not smelling that Chicken Balti Pukka Pie, that beer and egg fart that someone should have kept inside them for the good of humanity. We're not hearing that big gobbed bloke 4 rows back 8 seats to the right shouting crap about your favourite player. All these things that make up football aren't there. It's like an autoficial execise that's going one without the people that matter!

We matter! For football, we matter, from grass roots to the international scene. Football is the sport of the people and a magnet that draws hundreds of thousands of people together each week from all walks of life. It creats rivalries and banter, frendships and foes and it's enjoyed by millions of us.

Bloody Barnsley in the play offs! I'll go to the foot of our stairs! Well done to them on a terrific season!

We now need to make our season a terrific one!

Come on lads! Get a win today and give us all a lift!

Bonjour Froglet. Where’s your PL entry?

Yes I thought Barnsley would just be mediocre this season and boy have they surprised everyone including themselves. All down to a very good Manager by all accounts. Wonder how long they can hang on to him?

‘Beer egg farts’ 🤣 know exactly what you mean and there’s plenty around me where I sit who drop one regularly.

As for today, I don’t know why but I’m feeling rather optimistic in that we’ll get something from the game. COME ON LADS ONE BIG LAST PUSH! UTM!!!!!

    NB. Excellent write up 😉

Woke up today with no nerves whatsoever for the game. All the hope for this season was well and truly sucked out of me on Wednesday night, yet to return. It just felt like a really cruel hammer blow, no matter what we do, we just can't bridge the gap. Unfortunately still really deflated, hopefully the lads are still believing more than my sorry butt. UTM!

Unbelievable if that's true. They are just arse covering for that w***** in the middle. So, if you go up for a header and clash heads you can get a red card, I can't get mi breath! Bearing in mind, their player nutted Crooks from behind and came off worse from the challenge. Crooks is too honest he should have also gone down and claimed a foul.

All the top pundits on TV and even Keith Hackett a very respected ex Ref, ALL say it wasn't a red card.

PW needs to give the squad a Churchillian type speech

We can win this one if we don't feel sorry for ourselves

I'm almost sure if you appeal then the suspension doesn't come in to effect until the result is known . I seem to remember years ago sendings off were sometimes appealed even though there was no chance of winning the appeal just so the player could play in an important game

I think it's only the fans that feel sorry for themselves . I'm sure the players will be up for it the same as any game

I’m sure they are but it’s when their heads drop in the game that we don’t want
