You could also go back over the two previous seasons and ask why we were given so few penalties.
As Pass has said elsewhere, Dike has had many decisions given against him that I have disagreed with. All swings and roundabouts and VAR errors. At the end of the day, we're where we deserve to be. Look at the gap in points to the nearest clubs, Reading apart. Whenever I've read your previous threads SB for this season and previous seasons, you've always said that the league table never lies, and I agree with you, it doesn't.

We've had 9 penalties awarded so far this season including cup ties.

In the promotion season of 96/97 we had 12 penalties awarded including cup ties.

One season is too small a sample to be statistically significant.
It would be interesting to look at the figures over the last ten years in the Championship, when many posts lamented the fact that we never got penalties and that we should go down more in the area.

Correct. Results are king. Shame about the lack of style and entertainment to achieve the results.

There has been some style and entertainment in many of our games, albeit maybe not in the quantities that we'd like and are used to. Our style of play has been successful and made us competitive though. You can't have everything in life. The current players and manager deserve our support though for the efforts they have put in this season.

I dont know how long we would put up with it as fans though mate watching live games but winning makes it alot easier to take. We seem to play better football away frm home maybe its down to our pitch but weve a few players who can play and if were allowed to do so i think we'd av had more convincing wins. But then theres the defense we cant play frm back im glad about everything this season and hope we get the prize for smaller clubs to believe they have a chance.

I fear for the future of football as a spectator sport if the values and methods of Barnsley's owners and Head Coach are seen as a model to follow. Yes, they have achieved results this season, as did the old Wimbledon, but it is not for me. The Stendel promotion season gave me success with style and entertainment but, I regret to say, the "football" this season has been ugly and most who watched, from what I have read, seem to agree.
Not for me, but if results are all that matter, then "enjoy the ride".

    # 'Ave it. O Yes.
