I think we all are AC. It's the fear of the whole shebang going completely t1ts up and the consequences that will surely follow that's keeping us in check.

It is slightly worse than Neal Ardleys last eight and not a collapse.

Its all about win ratios when it comes to challenging in the top seven, not scraping draws after being two goals behind in games as all that does is paper over the cracks.

As I said on another thread both Neal Ardley in his last eight games and Ian Burchnall in his first eight have a matching 25% win ratio. Both winning two from eight. Both managing six games where we did not win.

That is not good enough for mid table let alone playoffs and automatic is miles away from that. The reality is it has gone from bottom third form in Neal Ardleys last eight to relegation form in Ian Burchnalls last eight.

It’s a tough gig to be consistently playoff and promotion contenders at this level. You have to be winning 40-50% of your games to be in with a shout of the playoffs and 50% or more for automatic.

This team has been nowhere near that in the last sixtee.n games which this season is over a third of a season regardless of who has been manager.

It’s only being perceived as a collapse now because we have fallen out of the playoffs but we have been on the pathway to where we are now for the past two months.

IB’s results in his first eight aren’t even that different to NA’s last eight, the rot had set in. Which isn’t to say that he doesn’t deserve questions for being unable to turn that around, and indeed making it slightly worse, but this idea that all was going swimmingly and a new manager’s just come in and blown it up is... fanciful at best.
    Did I say that?

All I was saying is that lucky, unlucky, whatever you want to call it, the facts are that we got points. No, we didn't look like we were going to walk the league, but you get nothing for playing well or dominating games, it's about who scored the most goals.

Of course that is stating the obvious, but it's fact, however much you want to argue it.

It's the score based on expected goals, ie the number and quality of chances created.

Expected goals? Not yer actual goals actually scored?

So a fair score is one where you expected to score but didn't? I can't wait till the FA introduce THAT!

If the ball is sitting on the goal line with a striker closing in and no defender in sight, that would be an expected goal score of 1. If someone takes a shot from 60 yards that would be an expected goal figure of 0.0000 something.

(The first example is copyright infringement of ncfcog speaking on the Magpie Talk podcast!)

A fair few on here should be absolutely delighted if it's introduced after all the past comments about how defensive and boring were last season when we were the leagues joint 2nd top scores(?!).

And of course how lucky we've been all season to get the results we have, let's go with expected and deserved rather than actual.

Actual goals, scorelines and results were conveniently ignored by some because we didn't look like scoring in games or didn't deserve the win or draw.

    Sigh.
