Best/worst, end of career at Newcastle United

Over the years quite a lot of players have come here for their last payday.

Who would you give the accolade or the wooden spoon to?

In other words, nominate your best success and your idea of the worst failure. Only one of each.

I'll go first and take the easy way, and probably the most popular way out.

King Kevan Keegan, head and shoulders above the rest and for the biggest failure, Sol Campbell.

    100% my choices.

Beardsley anyone? Came in second time at about 32 but did go on to a few clubs after us.

I would have nominated Pedro too had KK not been here.

Special K - a world class superstar my favourite England player as a kid. Couldn’t believe he signed for us when I was on a family holiday at Pontins in Morecambe! Even got written into the last episode of Auf Weidersehen Pet. Campbell was crâp and about 2 stone overweight.

The one thing in Barnes favour was his 6 goals as our only fit striker thanks to Dalgliesh. Important ones too. Dinamo Kiev I think in the CL. Pearce was another scorer that night.
