Ross doesn't say "He looks like a 40-year-old-African" does he? He's referring to Enzio's slowness, not his colour. Ross then questions his age, something he must know anyway, so that and asking if Enzio had a doctored African passport (also knowing he's Dutch) remark could only have been made in a light manner while watching Enzio's performance that day.

This keeps getting lost, what have any alleged tendencies of African governments got to do with a bloke from Holland?
Why does he have to be associated with any of that?

Another point is that Boldewijn was far from the only one to look poor in the Alty game, Wootton, Knight and Knowles screwed up almost every time as well.

And finally the point about a coach slagging off players on the pitch to the subs bench....is that what we want?

Quite right. A surprising number of people trying to defend the comments, I think that reveals more about them than they would like.

Maurice Ross knew what he'd done was wrong,he was sacked / resigned quite rightly, very little fuss from either side,.If he admitted it was a racist issue he would never get another job in football, case closed.

I think it might have been racist, but only Maurice Ross really knows the answer. My guess is that there is a bit more to it than this incident in isolation, maybe other things had happened and this was seen by the players as a step too far. We'll probably never know.

This is my thinking. It is possible to make a racist joke without being racist, but it is ill-advised to do so.

With what is currently happening, it is clear that even if it was meant as a joke, there is no place for it.

I also agree with the point of slagging off players to other players. I got fed up reading on here that the dressing room is / was divided. I have never thought that, but stuff like this certainly wouldn't help.

Anyway, it's water under the bridge now.
