Courts is being hailed as the next Jim McLean because he checked the flightchecker website to see if one of his players' plane had actually been delayed or not. There's a difference.
He's not really though. Just by a weirdo Daily Record reporter. People need to relax. I have zero idea what he would be like as our coach. But his level of experience is alarming to say the least.

If he gets the job, I'll be there when allowed to see how his team performs, if its consistently not good enough then he'll get punted. If he is successful then he'll have shut a lot of people up. Too much of a risk for me though. Unless his assistant manager is someone MASSIVELY experienced.

Yeah I understand ur point that they were far more experienced than courts and agree courts would be a massive gamble but really doubt it is true but I am often wrong never even believed MM was off till the other day.It is all out of my hands and will just have to see how it goes would be brilliant if courts was the next wee jum but really don't think he will be our next manager but worried whoever it is. Can't keep just changing managers every season.Stability is what we need to build a team and keep building like the mclean years.

As an ASSISTANT to learn his trade, which he did for the next ten years!!!! Similar to Courts though, aye? 😂

What is the bigger, high profile job. Assistant at Porto, or manager of Dundee United?

I was never on the Courts bandwagon but have to admit I really hope we hire him just to see the heads exploding on here

People need to stop mentioning wee Jim when talking about where the club should be. He is everything our football club is and delivered a level of football and success we will NEVER see again. And that is a GB style FACT. But involving his name in these types of conversations is a dangerous game.

Jobby McCall was on the radio the other night saying that the Dundee United and Aberdeen jobs are (in his opinion) the two toughest jobs in Scotland and (for once) I agree with him. His arguement was that there are still guys in the stands that lived through the wee Jim/Sir Alex days and this just piles so much pressure on the club and the manager to perform. I think over the last few years its calmed down a bit on our side but we need to be careful with having his name brought up as its not really a comparison that is worth making. It won't help anyone.

I think McLean is brought up to show that sometimes you do have to take a risk in football. Football evolves every few years, you can't keep going to the same old thing every time. Try something new, get ahead of the curve

What's high profile got to do with anything? He was a number 2 with very little responsibility. Courts is about to be asked to manage our football club.

So our next manager, how much coaching/management experience would you prefer?

I think there is a massive point being missed here,if you go back to the rumours and stories in April it was all to do with Tony wanting his son promoted and Mellon saying no.
None of us know if Tam will succeed or fail(if appointed)but it appears to me that this is not being done because its in the club's best interests its more to do with the best interests of Tony,Adam and FN Tam.
That's the way its looking to me anyway.
