Give them a break, it was virtually our second if not third XI with some players who haven't even been picked
I don't think Southgate is that confidential in his abilities, he seems to be auditioning for a job at BBC Sport as the next Gary Lineker.
[QUOTE=CAMiller;39795077]To go with the recent thread on falling out of love with the game. From Stephen Warnock on the BBC
I thought straight away it's a clear penalty. Jack Grealish just gets beyond him and has his heels clipped. He makes the most of it but he's got every right to.[/QUOTE
I dont understand CAM, what has Stephen Warnock said that is wrong in your eyes? are you saying it's not a penalty and the only reason it was given was because Grealish made the most of it? Or are you saying that players shouldn't need to make the most of it if it is a foul? because I really believe that if they dont make the most of any foul, then the ref would be less inclined to give it?
This may sound hypocritical, but the game has created a culture where if someone goes down screaming most refs will give a free kick, and when watched back it is a ridiculous decision to give, so whilst I agree if a player is genuinely fouled that he should be allowed to make the most of it, but it can create an almost certain decision to give a foul when non has been committed. I find it boring to watch and Jack Grealish spent most of the time on the floor a couple of years back at the NYS.
Of course I want them to win, but it’s not like supporting the Millers. With England my annoyance lasts about the length of time it takes to change channel. With the Millers I am still annoyed with Marlon Pack a month after the event.
Everything is wrong about it (in my opinion obviously) and it just goes to show that any integrity the sport has/had is rapidly disappearing. There use to be a 'sport' shown on World Of Sport every Saturday between 4-4:45 where 'men' called Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks etc. used to fall over 'on script' and everyone thought it was a laughing stock of a sport to be followed by old grannies. Do we really want football going the same way?
When was the last time England played a decent game(not for many a year I dont recall)..what I dont understand is,with our 1st game only a week away why play players who are not in the euro squad?why play players who we all know wont get a game?surely you would want to play your 1st team.if just to familiarise with each other..
