    I'm not guessing about clubs talking to their players all the time. It's understandable that no announcements have been made given we haven't had a head coach until yesterday but we need to be playing catch up here because pre season and first games are pretty close now.

    I get that the club aren't going to say Benji MIGHT be away etc, they won't until a deal is done. I'm just saying we need to get the finger out for a tough season ahead and it wouldn't do any harm to give the fans some optimism as well.

    I know the Shankland's have one eye on moving next summer but a years extension would do them no harm and offer them a bit of security should things not turn out the way they expect next summer. If it's weighted with a clause that allows him to leave 'as & when a suitable offer comes in' then why not? Worth a try and it would guarantee us a sum as opposed to losing him for nothing.
