Here is a more interesting question for you, If IB had been appointed instead of NA, I believe IB would have kept us up.

Not so sure about that. We needed a 'firefighter' not a tactician or a slow but steady builder, (a la Ardley). Someone in the MadDog, (pre health problems) or Nolan, (pre alcohol) mould. But having said that, I doubt that ANY manager that Notts have EVER employed would have made such a pish poor attempt at keeping us in the FL as Ardley did.

How can most of the damage be done- when we were 7 points above Macclesfield when Ardley came in ?? Not only that Notts players and manager were getting PAID, where macclesfields were not

Ardley first 12 games was his downfall, in that period he ended up 8 points from safety, and lost the key match to Macclesfield

It is true, when he was allowed to bring in many of his own players in January he improved, but not enough to keep us up.

Totally. He should be given a lot of credit, and we should all be thankful to him IMO for the way he sank millions of pounds into the club and ultimately sold it into four rather steady-seeming hands.

He made a lot of mistakes and was a PR disaster on social media even before The Incident but you could never question his commitment to the club or the owners he ultimately sold to.

I am fed up with people talking about how great Ardley was
I glad he has gone, all be it 2 years later than he should have, he relegated our club, and blew 2 seasons in this league, he was getting worse not better
Personally he probably be better suited at Solihull, where the expectation for him to do well will be far less than at a club like Notts, but apart from when Solihull play Notts, i could not give a rats arce about how Ardley gets on, good riddance

These stats show that whilst he tightened up the defence that season, he brought our goal scoring ratio down.

28th November 2018 (day Ardley was appointed)
Goals per game: 1.10 (17th best in the league)
Goals against: 2.05 (worst in the league)

4th May 2019 (day we were relegated)
Goals per game: 1.04 (20th best in the league)
Goals against: 1.83 (worst in the league)

    Ardley games only 2018/19
    Goals per game: 1.00
    Goals against: 1.65

Yes i agree, his rantings on social media certainly did him no favours , but for me turning point was Coventry, it could have easily been us in the championship today, genuine guy that simply just run out of cash

Thanks for clearing that up for us. I suspect many of us were wondering where you stood on this issue

Interesting facts, i guess its the dilemma of all managers, the teams that usually work it out, are usually promoted, ie tight defense and high goals
Even IB has similar problems, he seems to have solved our goal scoring, at the expense of letting many more in ,

Interesting. I personally feel relegation under him might well have been inevitable that season or the one after. Just too much chaos, even if he hadn't run out of dosh. If we hadn't been perched so precariously in the relegation zone he might well have appointed a fourth manager that year, and I honestly think that could have resulted in a record-breaking mess on the pitch. I mean, even worse than what we saw.

I'm a lot more optimistic about our current owners. I think they've got a long term plan and they're working to the plan. I think IB fits neatly into it and I'm really keen to see how he does in his first full season in the hot seat. I think with the Reedtz brothers running the club, we could be one of those teams who finds re-birth in the Bananarama league instead of a permanent malaise.

    Here's hoping, anyhow.
