Inflation will really focus economists on quantitative easing. Got away with appalling banana republic economics for far too long IMO.

Us inflation fig already at 5%

    Possible interest rate rises soon.

Huge decision coming on triple lock pensions......Andrew Neil suggesting fudge for 1year.....with no rise......but that's political dynamite.

On thing that was suggested that I never thought of.....instead of just abolishing higher rate tax relief on pension contributions.....making it a flat rate but more than current lower rate say 25%.

Don't think a pause in the pension triple lock is political dynamite. It is exactly the sort of grown up decision that should be taken by governments and if politicians would put the country ahead of party there should be no disagreement. Labour should propose it as a policy and Boris should pinch the idea and make it a done deal.

In my opinion the triple lock on the old age pension should be maintained.
Politicians should remember that pensioners savings are being eroded by minimal rates of interest whilst they are subsidising record low rates for mortgages.
