It's a pity Rross and eric have said all they want about how to fix drug abuse. It's a topic that should be discussed IMO. The trouble seems to be that there is no cure. Giving methdone just helps to keep the cylcle of addiction going, at least that's the criticism that I have heard about the methadone programme. I don't know what it costs, maybe that's the problem, there seems very little detailed information about the services that are provided to support drug addicts. some is state provided and some support comes form the voluntary sector. Maybe if the costs of the methadone programme for each addict was known there might be some better way to spend the money on a course of treatment that actually helped the addict to stop taking drugs.

Its all about choices on a personal level and state level.

The SNP chose to cut drug rehabilitation funding and look what’s happened. They were well warned but didn’t care enough about those affected to fund it properly and look where we are now.

Here’s tae us, wha’s like us.

    Flags n’stuff.

I would take the school children around the addicts drug dens and houses, let them see them, I’d also show them pictures before and after off their faces, I’d do this every couple of months, let them see who’s still around or who’s dead

When my daughter was at school the Glasgow Drug Rehab football team gave parents and children a talk. Most shattering observation was that the person who introduced her to drugs would be a friend known to us all. We discussed it and thought that a zero tolerance response was what was needed. We ere lucky and her friends pretty much avoided drugs. That was about 25 years ago. Have not got a clue what happens today but we have a granddaughter that is almost a ****ager so any advice would be appreciated.

    I would legalise drugs.
Remember what happened after prohibition ended in America.
