I'm glad he's gone too if only so I don't have to hear about him breaking covid rules again and cheating. If some people had been around when jesus walked the earth there would have been stones being cast at an alarming rate. I agree that you're allowed an opinion and shouldn't be berated for it, but I don't expect to hear the same thing over and over everytime you post.
I'm my opinion the bloke did a top job and I had hoped he wasn't a one trick pony who would, next season, improve the squad and the football, his tactics were used because he said they suited the squad we had, and maybe take us that one step further. As it happens we'll never know if he was or could.
Can't wait to see who's next to use us as a stepping stone while they try to promote us.
    Bring it on.

To see us at the top end of this league for the first time in over two decades simply has to be respected .

The style of football wasn't always great on the eye but Val got the absolute maximum out of a group of players put together for a pittance .

We finished comfortably above bigger clubs who spent more on one player than we did on the whole squad .

On a personal note his team provided a huge lift when spirits were low during the dark days of winter and a pandemic to deal with .

To see the lads walk out at Oakwell with fans back in the stadium competing in the championship play offs brought a real lump to my throat .

The man will always have my respect and I wish him well in the future .

My focus is now on the new HC and the season ahead .

Ammaz 'appy azza pig in muck that Ismael has gone. "Absolutely lol" as the kids say. A few single malts were quaffed last neet in celebration. He wo probably the worst role model for young fans in the history of Barnsley FC manager/ coach appointments. My joy is based around two main issues--

    1. He was a cheat who thought himself above the Covid rules that applied to everybody else. Thanks to Animal posting links abart his sacking at LASK we farnd art abart the morals of the man and his sacking, something which strangely has never once been mentioned on BBS. The Austrian Govt/FA introduced rules in the middle of the global pandemic that no club could resume training until a certain date. Ismael ignored these rules and brought his team back early to gain a football advantage by cheating on other clubs in the league. Instead of following the rule to only then engage in individual/ small group training for a period he then had full group training. The Austrian FA rightly thought this cheating was bang out of order and docked LASK points, leading to Ismael's sacking.
Step forrad the Barnsley FC owners/ CEO showing no moral principles about cheating and brought in the unemployed (cheap and available) Ismael.

    2. The worst football tactics and entertainment seen at Oakwell for a generation consisting of Ismael barking out numbers abart which triangle to form on which side of the pitch to close darn teams trying to play out from the back and midfield by-passed by hoofing the ball from defence to anywhere up the pitch and chasing the ball. The novelty worked forra while but he was sussed by the last ten games of the season with opponents simply not playing art from the back and matching the physical stuff as the ball came darn from the sky into their half. Wednesday, Coventry, Preston, Swansea had Ismael sussed at the end.

The final furlong found Ismael out. It wasn't quite Devon Loch but the thundering hooves of the also- rans were finding us art and the thoroughbreds who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd over the full season were worthily promoted. Bugger off Ismael. Football cheat and horrible to watch football. Good riddance.

I am sure my views will be respected and tolerated as is usual on here and not result in personal abuse if they happen to differ from other opinions.
    Tha dont mince tgee words.

Agree with all of that - except the part of wishing him well.
We can thank Ismael - but we can’t wish him well.

He hasn’t left Barnsley to join Tesco’s or work in a factory - or even a football club in a different country.
He’s joined West Brom - who are in DIRECT COMPETITOR of Barnsley Football Club.
WBA will try to push Barnsley down at every opportunity to gain any sort of advantage (hence Mowatt speculation).

No - I will thank Ismaël for his work at Barnsley - but I hope he has all the bad luck in the world in his new job at WBA.

    That’s because I am.
    Bitter bitter bitter !!!
    Lol.
    But also realistic.
Think of it like this …… if you had a shop selling cakes and one of your employees left to work at a cake shop down the road …. you wouldn’t say to them ‘I wish you luck’ ….. ie I hope you are successful and sell a shed load of cakes.
    Nar would yer ???

Personally - I want Barnsley to have great success and be promoted.
And hope all the rest of the Championship teams get relegated - especially the Blunts.

Its business Nudger. We're a smaller fish than West Brom in the current climate. That's the reality and you have to accept that.

West Brom have a recent history of being Premiership regulars. Their budget dwarfs ours. Their set up is already geared up for the Premier league, ours isn't.
