So young players in a struggling side can't get a move? Ali Coote springs to mind and a youngish Scott Fraser albeit I think he was maybe at the end of his contract, still got a move though.

Didn't say we'd be relying on kids, I said the kids would be one's pushing the experienced players. Do you think we'll have 2 experienced players for every position this season? and if so then why did Courts get the job? He's the youth guru that's going to make Ogren loadsamoney isn't he?

I don't think we will, no. In some positions we will. Others we wont. Same as many squads across the world. I just think your sentence about youth guru and making money is just boring and a lazy way of looking at this appointment. Just my opinion though.

agreed, plus the fact he doesnt create that much and more often than not games pass him by sadly...

There will be a team in decent league somewhere where Harkes would make a massive difference to their team. I just don't know where that is, and I don't think its here. I have no problem with him being in starting 11s throughout the season, it is bound to happen with injuries etc but he just can't be first choice for us in my eyes, he isn't good enough. This should be his last year at the club.

However, if he goes and proves many of us wrong, we'll all be delighted.

First im gonna go back to something i said a while back and say that i dont think we have seen Harkes, along with so many others, in a position that gets the best out of him. I do think he has been used more defensive than he is capable of and maybe wrongly labelled by us supporters as a DCM! To me from the current squad, Fuchs or Butcher should anchor with 2 from Harkes, Pawlett, Hoti, Glass, Mochrie, Meekison and probably more (not Clark!) playing between the DCM and CF.

However, the majority of evidence is so far based on DCM play, and all i think back to is the first game V St Johnstone and all i see is a lost laddie spraying the ball everywhere but nowhere! But get him playing in the right area of the pitch where he can use his energy, you get those unbelievable goal creating balls through to Shanks and others. Still too often though he is that lost wee laddie, and he has to step up very soon or someone will come in(JDH?) or come through and it will be, Ian who!

Of course they can and Ali Coote is a great example. But no one was paying millions for him were they?
