    Salary cap in NL

The Salary Cap Resolution proposed a cap be introduced for season 2022/23.

It will establish a Working Party to 'consult with the aim of bringing a full proposal to the 2022 EGM for clubs to vote on'.

At present, the suggested cap is £900k per year at Step 1 & £540k at Step 2.

We need to get out of this league asap.

I saw that and wondered whether it meant we had to get out this year or be dragged down to the lowest common denominator standard of other NL clubs. However, I think there is a long way to go before this becomes a reality and, as we saw with the L1 and L2 caps that were eventually withdrawn, it will face significant player opposition. I can see lawsuits as well if they try to bring it in.

It doesn't change the sentiment of your last line though. We do really need to get out of this league asap.

Who would vote on this, just the 23 clubs or north and south as well?
And what size majority to vote it through?

I support a salary cap in English football to shield fans from rising ticket costs, protect the integrity of the competition, and prevent the football industry in general from overheating with clubs over-reaching themselves and going bust. However, I also hear the points being made above that we don't want to find ourselves in a situation where we're operating under such restrictions in the National League while other divisions above us can do what they like. If salary caps are going to be introduced, they need to be applied across all English leagues, obviously tiered according to the level you're playing.

Makes sense Jackal but the arguement against it will be employment laws.

You would need every club to agree to it and no chance the big clubs agree.
