What I'd like to know is where is our unparalleled extensive scouting network when you need it. What are these people doing? Have we stopped paying them? The last time it was needed we signed Ryan Edwards who was known to MM and Charlie Mulgrew who was known to TA.

Is the internet down in India?

    3 players.

    A goalkeeper (a decent one)
A creative midfielder (to battle Mochrie for the shirt)
A striker (unless we've put our chips on Clark and Appere)

Plenty time. 27 days til we kick off in the Premiership.

Been avoiding this thread as i really do want my team to be doing well, but having recovered from some real lows, the club i have supported for decades appears to be making some old mistakes, along with some mistakes that failed other clubs!

I see some comments from the positive sides regarding how well our team did last season, and yes we just missed out on top 6 and made it to a cup semi, but seem to be all "la, la, la" on the fact the main factor in that achievements is no longer here! There are even rumours that maybe as much as 7 of the most important members of that team are available to be sold/released. I cant understand why people cant see something to worry about in that?

You really dont have to look that far back to see what can happen when you allow your best players to depart, then replace them with Sromnik/Zwick, Durnan/Donaldson! If rumour comes true, we are about to do that all over again, and will the fire sale follow?

You then only have to look back a couple of seasons when a highly regarded and tech savvy coach is given the reigns, and look where that got Hearts!

So im really sorry that i feel so negative about our future, but the past is weighing too heavy on my mind just now, although i as ever am willing to give someone a chance!

Here is the dutv quote mate. When asked if we should expect signings:

We are edging closer to that. We've been patient. We want the right type of players with the right personalities coming into the club. I would expect to see some activity. I wouldnt put a time on that because things can be complex at this stage but we are very active just now across a few different options.

Hopeful stuff, guess we have to wait and see.

You didn't answer my question though! Would you rather have one really good midfielder on 3k than 3 who can't pass the ball on 2k....

Great debating with you tonight, how it should be. Mañana amigo.

Sorry but I just don't believe in it at all. Has it improved Butcher's passing or giving away needless fouls or bookings? Has he ever analysed his own game from the previous week and taken heed then rectified it by not flying into tackles needlessly? I seem to remember McNulty too getting booked needlessly for kicking the ball away a couple of times. Didn't he learn from the 1st time? He must've not been paying attention when watching the match back in analysing class.......and not forgetting Benji . Took him long enough to analyse himself back then eventually saving a penalty. Lol.

Sorry but I'm probably just too old to get my head around all this type of modern pish, I still can't get over fluorescent pink and yellow futba bates

I saw Paul Gascoigne drink 16 bottles of lager the night before a match while the Tottenham directors, Venables and Lineker were in their beds. I said Paul you're playing tomorrow, but to no avail. He scored twice the next day as the team won 3-0. I'm sure his stats were shocking though 😁

With our unsustainable wage to turnover ratio what i would like to see is the comparison between us and clubs of a similar size with staffing levels.I keep hearing that for a club our size we have far too many people on the payroll and the team on the park will suffer as a consequence.

To be fair it's a complex thing we are talking about and a lot of football fans aren't really ready and willing to get this complexity, everything should be easy. Seeing these stats (at a very low level) first hand has given me a tiny insight into how useful they can be, even for amateurs. So, I'd say it's imperative United utilise everything they can to take advantage. They may not improve Butcher's passing but they can easily improve his fitness and positional awareness so why not?

Earlier in the thread i mentioned to Bud about the analysts and would they be going through a performance with players post match?.I used Mark Connolly as an example.
The reason i mentioned Mark is i have watched this player make the same errors over and over again throughout his contracts at Tannadice so what exactly are the analysts being paid for?.
