Thread: The Euros thread

As an Englishmen I'm quite calm about the match as I believe this is 'not our chance' we are genuinely at the start of a brighter future for my national team. So if not tonight then soon. And often.

Cannie really understand what you mean by,"This is not our chance.".You are playing at home, due to Covid the Italians have only around 10% of the fans, they have had to play teams ranked higher than them including the world number one side, you have played no team ahead of you in the FIFA list, out of the 7 games 6 of England's have been played at Wembley the Italians will have to play 4 away from Rome.
You will never ever have things weighted in your favour like this again in your history.

Thank you for a properly considered response you are obviously a keen England watcher.

I posted this before the Germany game as to why English football has a brighter future (more than half our squad are under 25)

    "Coaching.

When I started coaching kid's football in the 90's the coaching of our kids was in the Dark Ages. Everything equipment, pitch sizes, goal sizes, the game itself and most importantly the thinking was all about rewarding the big strong fast lads with skill on the ball well down the list. I took a particular interest on what the Dutch were doing. It was light years ahead of our methods.

Since around 2000 there has been a slow revolution in our methods staring with the introduction of mini soccer a game made to fit the kids not the other way round. There are courses specifically aimed at coaching kids, the equipment is right, I'm now coaching skills to young players on all weather pitches not mud heaps, our club has a dedicated FA Coach who I work with regularly and there is the FA Charter Scheme rewarding clubs who are doing the right thing.

The result of this is England now has an embarrassment of riches in skill full young players comfortable on the ball.

Things continue to improve and and will imo only get better."

My guess is the coaching of Scottish kids has gone on the same journey. You might get to see the benefits also.

No you haven't. Most England fans right them off before a ball is kicked and get proved right. I never thought I would see England win a World Cup in my lifetime (I'm 67). Now I think we might. My son thought he probably wouldn't see it but now he is confident he will.

Hardly an avid England watcher i was at Hampden when you played the Czech's.I did watch the Yorkshire Pirlo and his Irish partner get run ragged by Gilmour at Wembley though.
I have watched most of the Italy games, never thought i would ever say this but its true,a much better side to watch than England.

Yes I have don't know most england supporters but have it rammed down my throat every 2 years from english media until engurlund are going home.If you are 67 england have won a world cup in ur life time you would have been 12 years old.I know this because we get it rammed down our throats every two years.Think ur son was probably right he will probably not see Engurlund winning a world cup in his life time and this will be best chance you will ever have of seeing them win a european one.
