So far we have an untested head coach, and on paper a weak premiership side.

    I do believe that we are working hard in the background on bringing players in. The only caveat to that is if the previous contract extensions have anything to go by. What quality of player are we looking at?
    Sad fact that our existence is and should be financed by nurturing and selling talent at the right time. For me the sale of Robson and Seigrist might be at that right time now, but the likes of Chalmers, Shankland, Edwards and Fuchs are the ones whos contracts should be extended and sold in the future.

    If guys like Neilson, K Smith and Mochrie are sold now, its shades of what happened under the previous owners!

    We need a couple of wingers ahead of anything else. If this is the only thing we now do this transfer window then that'll be great.

    Wingers would be great if we had a Dalyesque target man. I'd rather have a creative midfielder above anything else..

    Yip, have to agree with this. We have the players to play 3-5-2 if we have no wingers, but to do that we need creativity at 8 and 10

    I think the thing that is worrying me the most, is the time it is taking to get in a player that can feed Shankland. We have identified it in at least the past 4 transfer windows...a level of acceptance that the covid season meant it was difficult, but we should have had our man in by now. We need someone in to give them time to gel and work with our strikers and to build up a parnership. Getting them in near the end of the transfer window is gonna mean we are not up to speed straight away.
    Not addressing this area ASAP is negligent and there is still a part of me that is not sure we are intending to address it at all.
    In business terms, a player that is creating chances for our strikers, will at a lot of resale value onto them. A free scoring Shankland was probably valued at around 3 million quid....right now he is probably worth 1 million at a push....and will be worth hee haw once his contract us up! If this owner wants to make money.....get a proper quality creative player and get a 1yr extension on Shanklands contract.
    Goals= money!

    Great post and 100% correct,The Big Man needs to speculate to accumulate and this has been clear for us all to see for a long time now.If he had gambled last season with a high calibre play maker/creative midfielder LOA may have been on his way this summer for a decent wedge.
    That is not what us fans want to see happening but its the way our model works whether we like it or not.
