its easy to be sucked into negativity. I was packing it in after 10 mins last night lol. A few things i want to see - Freeman is close to keeping Smith out in my opinion if he keeps this form going and can pick up to premier levels, i prefer hoti to harkes so far, if edwards signs a new deal it cant all be bad at tannadice, mochrie i like, good to see shanks and clark smiling encouraging and when clark hit the keeper twice only for shanks to score that was very funny as shanks just said thats how you finish. Great attitude so far.
Firstly Edwards signing a new deal is massive and ill guarantee it made the negative collective raise an eyebrow or two. The club should get massive credit for getting that over the line.
Secondly the football played last night was an absolute joy to watch. Look how Happy Shankland looked with the young full backs offering so much galloping forward and in particular Freeman who put in some excellent crosses and took his goal really well. To have someone with Shanklands ability being absolutely wasted was criminal last year and hopefully he starts to enjoy his football and score goals again...no doubt he will still be feeling bitter about missing out on the Euros and tbh i think he could have made a difference as we(Scotland) were crying out for a natural goalscorer with the amount of crosses and chances we created.
The young lads coming through at the club just now all look more than capable with some extra special talent in there. I still think we lack pace and honestly im really not a fan of going into the season with Harkes as a starter in midfield. Wheres Deco Glass these days? New signing or 2 still to come hopefully.
I realise it was only Elgin but under Melon we would have been lucky to win that. Positive signs but a long way to go. Can't wait to enjoy watching my team again win lose or draw.
Agree, like some I saw the same squad and thus was thinking the same performances, which I was not looking forward to.
We are all screaming for more creativity and attacking football and if this lot are capable of delivering against premier teams then happy days.
A couple of additions please and who knows we may improve on last season.
However, not getting carried away as these are teams we should be beating easily, but happy faces on the pitch and less shouting from the touchline augers well.
From The Courier regarding Alexander
Courts took the chance to rubbish reports of a bust up between he and goalkeeping coach Neil Alexander, stating he has enormous respect for the former Rangers stopper.
Alexander wasn’t present at Tannadice and Courts said he can’t provide an update at this stage as to whether Alexander will be staying or going.
The Terrors gaffer added: “There’s nothing definitive.
“Since I came in I wanted to take time to look at structure and the personnel. There will be something in the coming days on that I’m sure.
“He’s still an employee of the club. There’s been no bust up. I’ve known Neil since I was at 17 when we were teammates at Livi.
“I have enormous respect for him as a pro. There’s been no fallout as such and it’s all still very amicable.”
I still love that post about Alexander being spotted handing his kit back![]()
