You state utd will buy players not so sure of that just now think they will be looking more at getting in players for free or on loan. You may see this as me twisting you're words again I just see it as me copying you're words.

I didn't say he wasn't. I was implying that the contract extensions started with him. Undoubtedly he's been the best of the bunch but I think we could still do better, Edwards being a prime example.

That something else may be a mentor, or as a future head coach.

In Greg Stewart, he is a player i do like and think he can bring something to the playing side for 3/4 years, but he is too old to have a future sell on value. He has never struck me as the kind of player that would become a future head coach, where Mulgrew strikes me as the perfect candidate to become a head coach that comes through our ranks over time.

I did understand where you were coming from and hope you take this in the same spirit.
Yip see what you meant chick and makes a bit of sense but would have liked to see utd go for stewart never mind his age a player who could do a job for us for a few years and strength our squad.

Yeah am hoping we can find a couple of gems as I said mate would love a bannon signing or to bring on a ralphie that is my hopes but know this things take time and really with our loses over last few years not sure how much our budget runs too?

WOW! I had a fairly busy day yesterday so I didn’t get chance to look on here. 12 full pages of new posts on this thread - that must mean we have signed someone then? Or at least we have been linked with someone maybe…

I don’t have time to read through 12 pages so can someone give me the important bits? What did I miss? Do we have any names yet?

I just looked at the “Scottish Gossip” on the BBC and United were listed at the top of the page so I’m thinking “here we go - finally some transfer activity…”

Dundee United are not in the running to sign Everton midfielder Beni Baningime, the 22-year-old who has also been strongly linked with Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts.

TBH i think thats harsh, I still wanted to see us signing better than him but he was never really given a proper go at it from MM. Either way its not going to take long for us to find out with him moving across the road. Right now with our current squad, if he was still part of it i think most of us would have him in it in a 442.

I also wonder if losing him is why we haven't went for another winger, it was known even with Mcmullan we need at least another 1 to balance the 11 and not end up playing someone out of position on the left, and another for the squad, now we have none so maybe us signing 1 of them wouldnt really help since we would just end up in that dilemma in a formation trying to play one again. Realistically I think now 1 central creative player is more likely than us signing wingers.

We won't be signing wingers if we're playing 3-5-2. A McMullan type would be a man short in that formation. I think we'll see Freeman a lot more this season if his pre-season form continues. A defender first & foremost who has the required attributes to get up the line and provide for the front men.
