Just feels totally wrong that we're still playing a pre-season fixture when everybody else, including the NL North and South, have started the season proper. Couldn't be bothered with it today, I actually listened to and very much enjoyed the closing stages of Fword on Radio Nottm. Two played two defeats now for them and they lost to a side today who had 8 players unavailable.

Stags very much flying the flag for Nottinghamshire tonight, two wins out of the opening two for the first time since 1994 for them.

Yes it does, proppa weird. No doubt we'll start late and be cramming fixtures in like there's no tomoz towards the end of the season given Covid is still an issue.

Does anyone know if Chesterfield's third, fourth and fifth choice centre halfs are available? Oh, and third choice keeper.

You do know we played 75 minutes with 10 men?

I’m not confident of anything other than mid table based on today’s performance.
We lack a Paul Harding type in midfield so will get bombed out by teams like we faced today - who also had far too much easy space in wide forward areas.
The refereeing at this level will do us again. Today’s referee was as poor as they come. The challenge on Cal for example was a shocker. We can expect more of that. Referees at this level let physicality go.
The farting about at the back from GK to player either side will cost 10 to 12 points over a season.
And there’s a difference between fitness and sharpness. We may be fit but we are nowhere near sharp enough.
    Altogether not good enough today.
On the positive side we did look the better team by the end, despite 10 v 11

As I'm sure you know we've had pre seasons where we have impressed and beaten sides from higher divisions to then only go onto have very disappointing seasons. The correlation between the two is weak at best.

Who did we play in the pre season games in 2018?

Derby were one, I just remember remarking at the time that we looked weak defensively and that , (unfortunately), proved to be so. I do remember we had a good pre-season in 2009, tho. How did we do that season?

Yes of course we played Basford United, Championship side Derby, Premier League side Leicester and Away at League One Luton! Not exactly the best preparation for a L2 campaign, chasing far superior footballers shadows around and conceding 4 goals apiece in front of your home supporters.

I wonder if those star studded teams were selected by then Chairman/Owner Alan Hardy. Would she got in some nice pre season gate receipts for sure but not good in terms of the footballing side of things.

Thankfully I didn't go to any of those games.
