The general consensus from what I can gather from a quick online search is that refs rarely report red cards in friendlies, UNLESS, it was given for a dangerous tackle. No idea if that is true or not.

No, as it was a non competitive game. However, I believe Rawlinson would be suspended from our next friendly!?

Red cards in these games don't count towards league games

Personally, I’ll be surprised if Francis starts next week. I think Palmer will play the holding role and JOB will be alongside him. Francis has been caught out of position a few times in the last two games, which led to breakaway goals.

Struggling to see what Francis brings to that role. He's not physically dominant or quick and from what I've seen, keeps getting caught ahead of the ball when we've been countered.

Yeah, not inspiring on yesterday's evidence. This would be a problem though - nobody else in the squad is there to play that specific 'pivot' role.

Of course. Was he asymptomatic and able to do any fitness work (or at least not go backwards)?
It'd be frustrating if he cannot start at Barnet but understandable. Thankfully, he looked in good shape yesterday so let's hope he can put in a good week as IB said. I'd prefer him to be played into fitness, rather than see a repeat of last season when the club took months to get him up to scratch.

A lot of posters are making the point about Ruben and Cal playing together and it's not easy to see how 2 No. 10 playmakers fit into the 5-3-2 IB used last season. For me the key is playing 1 attacking wing-back (like Miller). If it's only Wootton ahead of them it's a waste of their creative skills. Personally, I don't want to see the line-up with DKE and Chicksen as wing-backs again unless it's a fixture like away to Stockport. What I was saying in the other post is that if he can't get 3-5-2 to work with Cal and Ruben, then change the system - it'd be crazy if you started alternating them.

It probably told Nolan very little , same way winning by 4 or 5 against an inferior team 2/3 steps further down the footballing pyramid.

During all my years as a fan I've noted a weak correlation between the two, some pre seasons poor, and have a decent season, others we are impressive in non competitive fixtures but then end up in a relegation battle. I'm also sure there are examples of the other two combination where we are either good in both or more likely bad.

Because of the above I, like many, I don't put too much emphasis on the results/performances. I certainly wouldn't be getting too worked up or excited over a pre season. Each to their own obviously others clearly view PSFs very differently.
At this moment in time i would still put Nolan ahead of Ib , until he proves otherwise .. still cant believe people wanting nolan out, when anything after him has been garbage ..

Rumour has it that he was sacked because of his drinking problem.

Nolan was rightly sacked to be fair. The start of that season, he got 1 point from 15 or 18 or something like that, including a humiliating 4-0 home defeat against Yeovil who somehow managed to be the only team who finished below us that season!

That's before taking into account the season before where at one point we were title contenders and then missed out on automatic because we lost to the likes of Grimsby, Barnet and Chesterfield who were the bottom three clubs that season. We also lost 8-1 live on the BBC that season as well so in my book, he deserved to go
