To be fair Steve, I doubt there's one single poster on here, or indeed any Miller out there worldwide who gives a flying fig about how he's doing at Gillingham. The point is, surely, that he created a winning mentality (and some great players) during his time at RUFC. He was brilliant for us. Why such vitriol?

Simply because he is not a good human.

Interestingly though correct me if I’m wrong he didn’t get fined or banned for anything he did while with us..? I know he had the carryover from Crawley but perhaps TS did well to get him to behave (although he was clearly still gobby). And he can be eloquent and serious when he wants to be

He is a marmite character but I will never forget what he did for our club. He is a great manager as far as I am concerned.

I agree. I really didn't want him before he came. What he did was magnificent. At half time at Wembley and turned to my dad and said were still in this because his side had real mental resilience.

He also behaved well when he was here. There's an edge to him. Even when he is tyring to behave himself you can see he is biting his lip. I think our.media guy at the time, Matt Young may have helped him, but for me, he has his methods and they work.

By contrast I was talking to a
friend of a former who played under home some time ago, not a roth player, who said he was a complete tw@t who crossed a line, so you have to be able to work with him for his methods to work, thus the high player turnover. Many can't.

But his methods at Rotherham United gave the club promotions,
plus putting money in the coffers.
Many owners / chairman would have welcomed his achievements.

Fair doos Steve. I try to "take as I find" and on the 3 or 4 occasions I have been in his company I found him to be pleasant, gracious, bordering on charming. And he has a wicked sense of humour.

That said, I'm not blind to how he can be.

All in all its RUFC first and foremost for me. The individual characters come and go (players, managers, even chairmen). It may seem callous but I usually view them as they probably views us:. As a means to an end. They're commodities and provided they improve the club that I love during their tenure then I'm a happy Grumps'. And nobody can possibly dispute that Evans didn't improve us.

Couldn't agree more with this and other positive memories of SE. We were never out of games with him, phenomenal team spirit and I for one, loved the ride. Chaotic at times but under his leadership he brought memories that I'll cherish forever. Ambitious but brilliant being the pinnacle of course.

So what if he isn't whiter than white, he hasn't killed anyone, so much needless venom towards him from some quarters.

Don't agree. I was actually very impressed with him with regard to the comments he made prior to their game at Plymouth following the awful events there last week.

Well all I can say is that if Warne had had a tenth of the money that the fat Jock slapped up against the wall and wasted, we would have ten times the team now... and we are still doing better than Gillingham at that.
Sadly, his antics were the ones that taught Tony Stewart to be a Yorkshireman with his brass, and the current management are paying for Evans' wastage...
We all have our opinions - that's mine. But I don't see any of the teams he's 'managed' since us, exactly tearing up to the Prem, and for my money, if we lost every game I'd rather be proud of Warne as a manager, than thoroughly ashamed of the copious ar*e-crack...
