In spite of a morale boosting EFL Cup victory at Newcastle in midweek, I can only approach writing this latest set of match notes with a deepening sense of foreboding. Turf Moor is most certainly not our “Happy Place”. Five successive home PL defeats tells its own story and it makes grim reading. As transfer window failures have piled up one after another, fans have been left frustrated, bewildered and angry in equal measure. Another poor performance on Sunday in the Roses derby and patience already worn thin may snap altogether.

Leeds, yet to win in the PL themselves this season, will be encouraged by a battling performance against Everton at Elland Road and will fancy their chances of taking all three points back over the Pennines. Leeds are likely to line up 3-3-3-1 with Bamford, called up into the England squad, leading the attack. How he would relish scoring at Turf Moor! Support down the flanks will come from Harrison and Raphinha . The trio of Firpo, Phillips and Dallas will contest the midfield. A sign of Leeds’ ambition, Firpo was a summer signing from Barcelona.

For Burnley Tarkowski should return to play alongside Ben Mee with Taylor and Lowton completing the back four. Westwood and Vydra could well both be on the bench leaving either Rodriguez or Barnes to partner Chris Wood up front.

Our match referee is Michael Oliver with Chris Kavanagh on VAR.

A win would give the whole town a massive lift. Let’s hope it arrives this weekend. COYC!
