Rumours Berahino might come back to us.
Looking forward to seeing him fit into Val’s high intensity system.
I’d sign him just to make his life a f king misery.
[QUOTE=Yarmbaggie;39857174]Anyone expecting any surprises?
Nope just tumbleweeds!

Two hours to go - looks like we are done for the transfer window.
IN: Clarke, Mowatt, Hugill, Mulumby - ALL FREE or LOANS
OUT: Pereira (£15m?), Harper (£500k), HRK, Austin, Gibbs, Field,
STUCK WITH: Zohore (Bad), Johnstone (Good)
Some good INS ... no doubt ... but with a bit more investment upfront and midfield we could nailed Automatic.
Still maybe the kids will come good - seems like Val will give them a chance ... also we are yet to see the best from Snodgrass if he ever recovers from injury ...
I don't mind how we have handled the transfer window. We've bought in some quality and have safeguarded against having loads of crap on the books if they don't work out. I like the idea that a few kids will get a run out as it will give them confidence that we have an academy that will progress a few of the most exceptional. We've lost so many over the years that might have stayed if they felt they would get opportunities.
My only gripe is the expectations set by the board when they said the manager will have a competitive budget...because he hasn't had that. As some other posters have said, one or two real quality additions and we'd walk the league. This feels like the poorest championship for years but it won't be next season. Loads of clubs have sold their best players and not replaced them - look at Blackburn, Sheffield United, Swansea etc.
So:-
Alex Mowatt (FREE)
Matt Clarke (LOAN - BRIGHTON)
Adam Reach (FREE)
Quevin Castro (FREE)
Jordan Hugill (LOAN - NORWICH)
Jayson Molumby (LOAN - OPTION - BRIGHTON)
Net spend 0
Squad still paper thin

I dont want to sound negative but for me decent players but for me yeah none are PL class. Doesn’t matter in a way this year as the standard we have across the squad should be ok for this league but depends upon how many injuries we get, as well as suspensions. Obviously Val will push them but I am worried about a lack of a Plan B as teams suss out how to play us, as they have with Leeds.
I am encouraged that some of the younger players may get there chance this year as squad players. However, the Championship looks very poor this year and we have a golden opportunity to get automatic promotion. From a business point of view I would have thought we can’t afford to miss out this season.
The problem of course is go up and we aren’t good enough to stay up and the club isn’t prepared to invest in what we will need to stay up. Don’t get promoted this year and I can see it being increasingly difficult to get up. Damned if we do and damned if we don’t.
