I feel you put racist abuse on a really low footing, comparing it to flares being thrown and bad tackles. We should be better than that as a club with our history.
A good post which I fully support.

So you are supporting what you say is total ignorance over some West Brom fans booing taking the knee without any hint of undertones over many singing to a Blackburn family stand - you have seen West Brom now f uck off home then at least three smoke bombs were thrown on the pitch right near the players! Incredible if so and there’s no hope!

Again my view is like a good number of black players now - taking the knee should be shelved and replaced with something stronger without player involvement. Perhaps some think these black players who choose not to take the knee are totally ignorant too!

There will always be racism, you can't control how people think. Taking the knee or showing your arse will make no difference. People think what they want, you can't make them think what you want.
Racism isn't exclusive to white people either.
All these protest's draw the distinction between certain races and add to the problem.

Spot on as always Des! Sadly even some black players now are of the view taking the knee has passed its sell by date and they refuse to do it! That tells you something!

Glad all this rubbish is not at Tennis but then again different demographics!

I am fed up with saying it but I'll say it one more time. The BLM and 'taking the knee' has set back race relations years. I don't care what anybody says but since the seventies players have not received the same amount of abuse that they are now having to deal with. Let's cut out taking the knee and bowing down to BLM and just treat everybody as you would like to be treated yourself. As others have stated, if black players are saying it's a meaningless gesture perhaps we ought to take notice of them. While there obviously has been racism in the recent past it was nothing compared to the level it is at now.

Just because racism is less prevalent or less aggressive than previous years, doesn’t mean the issue is gone and nothing should be done about it. Imagine if we took that approach in the 70’s and just accepted society as it was. I’m sure a few back then said it would never change so why bother.

Personally, I feel they are highlighting how prevalent racism is and how much of a problem it is rather than making it worse.

This is an important social issue that a group of lads are standing up against. Booing them is idiotic, counter productive and mostly racist. If we fully applauded them and supported what they are trying to do, people around might just get the message and it might gain some momentum.

I feel some people need reminding that we’ve had two of our players suffer some appalling abuse last season…and our players are low profile.

Agree with some of your points but not Booing them is idiotic, counter productive and mostly racist. Who are you speaking for? Even some black players do NOT agree anymore with taking the knee - that's a fact! Many on this board are professionals like myself and are entitled to our views and they certainly are not racist in any form.

I would applaud the FA to go one step further with anything to strengthen fighting racism but taking the knee is past it's sell by date! Interestingly many teams in the Euros do not take the knee - are they racist? NO! Just like some black players in this country they feel the message is going backwards and it's true.

Those supporters in Hungary were animals and should be banned but Sterling should receive a huge fine for incitement for taking off his shirt. Now that was idiotic or was it astute when he knew all the cameras would be on him when he decided to communicate a personal social media message on his shirt! Some would say if that was a white player they would be hammered for doing that.

Your views are your views but there are lots on the board whose views differ. Leicester has made a good post just above this one and certainly far from idiotic!
