Brentfords new 17000 stadium cost 70m in 2020

    Shrewsbury's 10000 New Meadow cost 11m in 2006

    Colchester's 10000 cost 15m in 2008

York City paid 40m for their new 8000 capacity stadium in 2021

Donnys 15000 capacity Keepmoat stadium cost 20m to build in 2006

A conservative estimate to relocate BFC to a 15000 capacity new stadium would be around 30 million judging by the cost of those modest stadiums I mentioned. I reckon that'd be going rock bottom cheap too. I wonder how much the land around oakwell is worth?
Mmhmm that's what I would have expected Pass. And that's why none of this stacks up. I just can't see the business case; which makes me think they're here for football reasons and the football side of the business.

If they do go for a new build then it’s going to cost more than that - cos IMO we need a stadium with at least 25k capacity.
We could sell 20k STs in the Prem - and with away supporters then 25k would easily be achieved.

As a say Arby, a dunt know how much oakwell and it's surrounding land is worth. It could be lucrative for all we know. That's what I found confusing in 2002 when the club went into administration. Surely we could've raised a couple o million by selling part of the surrounding land to a developer?

Tha can only go on what crowds wiv had in last 20 years Nudger. Whilst I agree there's potential for Barnsley to bring in around 20k regularly, it ain't happening unless as you say we reach the top flight. Let's face it, that north stand is an eye sore in most games when the away contingent is small. It's nivver really been utilised to it's full potential since it was built. Like it or not, that's the bottom line.

You are assuming all the £30 mill would be paid in one lump. Similar to buying a house they would take out a mortgage type loan to pay for the new ground over several years and charge it to the club's account saddling the club with the debt for years to come. The last thing they would is spend their own money.
The other alternative would be to groundshare.

Don't take the risk. Get them out is what I say.

Probably couldn't Pass due to the covenant on the land .

Perhaps an alternative view is that building a new stadium could revive the area in which its built thus creating new business opportunities, jobs, investment and income for local businesses.

I just can't see this crazy scenario happening in truth. It's pure speculation and if Conway does sell up and we get another bunch o money orientated business men in, I don't expect much will change in regard of speculation like this.

“However I think it's fair to say the consortium are looking to leave because I've never known ESR not be right when he's revealed things on the forum .“

read ESR post and turned to Mrs Jules and said the EXACT same words

I will sleep well tonight dreaming of seeing Conway leaving Oakwell carrying a cardboard box similar to Cummings leaving Downing Street.

That's true. ESR dunt spout ballax. Over the years he's been proven right a fair few times on issues we were all speculating on.

Champagne corks will be popping in Ardsley and Happy Valley around about now or perhaps a pint o two o Tetleys and a couple o single malts in celebration
