Ive posted the link to Boycott’s 100th hundred at his home ground in the test against the Aussies in 77 BS.

Look at the technique and quality of shot.

14 fours in his 100.

He scored 191 in total in 471 balls and was last man out after batting for 6 hours and 19 minutes.

A study in temperament and technique as well as dogged determination.

Still the only man in history to score his hundredth 100 in a test match and on his own ground.

As a Yorkshireman this feat still makes the hairs on my neck stand on end when I watch it back.

I was 15 going on 16 that summer, I watched every ball of that innings and willed him on to do it.

Him and Cook are by far the best openers in my 50 years of watching cricket, they knew their game and their best 3 or 4 shots and didn’t try the stupid stuff.

Both absolute class.
