At least the cricket is interesting

India still favourites in my book - gave away 100 runs too many ..... still good rearguard fight by Hameed and Burns ... tomorrow could be interesting ....

Poor by England. But India are just the better all round team. More determined batsman prepared to grind it out - only Root would get into the India side. More penetrative bowlers - except when the ball is swinging. Better catching in general - especially in the slips. And finally a much better captain - Kohli is more ruthless and inspiring than Root.

    Better side wins.

The better side did indeed win, easily, reflects how much better they are than England. I said previously that Root effectively lost the match when he elected to field after winning the toss. England will be slaughtered in Australia. We need a Mike Brearley type for captain; he wasn’t the greatest batsman but he more than made up for it with his superb captaincy. Sadly, this match may have been the last we see of Jimmy Anderson playing for England; his record abroad is nowhere near as good as it is in England, so for the Australian tour, I suspect that he may not make the squad. Having said that, though, even when Anderson is 60, he’ll still be better than Archer.

    Still interesting buddy 😜

Have no idea how we won a test after being rolled over for 190 in the first innings

Think England definitely need some changes though
And also agree with views on Root great batsman, average Captain
Also agree with the comment on Brearley, captains need to inspire and motivate, I can’t knock Kohli for that, he can

My fav batsman of all time Tendulkar couldnt, so it has nothing to do with cricketing ability, more personality

The thing that has really surprised me is the Indian tail (which has always been about as long as that of a Rottweiler) really wagging this series
I’m guessing the IPL and influx of quality batsmen spending time with these guys for a prolonged period has really helped

Has been the England way for a while in 2nd innings ..... good solid start ..... lose a wicket then panic sets in ..... and we just collapse. Was interesting that although Jadeja was ripping it out of the rough and making the left handlers jump .... he only took a few wickets. The main damage was done by the pace bowlers on a supposedly flat wicket where India knocked up 460-odd the previous day. Spineless.

End of the day .... we have just been knocked over by India and New Zealand on our own patch in successive Test series ... heads should ****** roll in our cricket set up but I doubt they will as they are all self-serving ..... and no disrespect to India and New Zealand both good teams .... but this is England at home in our own seamer friendly conditions ....

Maybe the focus on “white ball” cricket has shifted our focus .... but then it’s the same for the rest ... mentality stemming from soft leadership is part of the issue ... Giles, Silverwood and Root ... all this rotation policy BS ... don’t see India rotating anyone and if they did Kohli would tell them where to go ...
