I'm not schizophrenic (at least we don't think so!), so can't comment from a position of knowledge, but if taking things literally is what caused the original response, then surely the "heat and light" that was generated could be reduced if not eradicated by taking equally what was said afterwards, regarding the intended innocent nature of comments, and accepting that the possibility of misinterpretation (which we are ALL capable of, with or without mental health issues) is always a risk?

I'm with Oz on the "keep posting" and on the advice regarding reactions!

Luckily my fantastic medical research team read my comments posted weekly and do advise accordingly.

Early days for me but I'm learning to interact better in differing situations which will help me not become withdrawn so much from society in general.

Hopefully a lot will be learned via this 6 month project by myself & Psychiatric consultants.

I thought it only fair to explain to everyone & the experts will intervene for me if need be and of course Mum & Dad who check in daily.
Please don't check in here daily might have an adverse effect . Seriously everything to do with illnesses just as you have goes back to the brain and how it can heal them. I know I can heal some of mine but I choose not to as more or less I have given up but I know if I put my mind to it I can change things and I'm glad as you are only a young Lass you look for help and also having parents like yours helps heaps.
Stay strong be brave as all good things can come out of it.

Read it again. I'm suggesting a coping strategy, not having a dig or being "insensitive, but as you're a mick I'll forgive you (or is calling you a mick insensitive too?&#128516.

Yep it's just a pic but for me I dot see it as 'just a pic' as my brain see's so much more.

Six members of my family are in-amongst those standing travelling Leeds fans alongside many loyal friends going back to schooldays of 1960/70s I was told.

Of course there's a story to tell of that day & many other days from said fans present - some who later got to better places in life & some who did not but they where all present that day and most are still travelling to games today by hook, crook, mutual respect with endearing life friendships requiring all to look after one another no mater what life throws at you and that goes to friends extended families.

Many of them now write books, some write weekly newspaper/media columns, some use forums & some just go to the games BUT none of them would stand by and take the personal flack & witnessed others having to either and ignore it.

My schizophrenia does alter some perspective to my views as I look at things slightly differently which to some may be difficult to understand - which I accept happens.
But I tell it as I think it and often in details that come across wrongly to some but it's the way I've trained my mind as often its battling thinking two things at once.

So for me I'll take the positives not the negatives from that national iconic photo that labelled ALL Leeds fans being hooligans, argumentative vile-animal scum as I know MOST are not and likewise on here.

Living with schizophrenia successfully without medication I have to battle and avoid certain negative emotional situations and I have to keep daily reminding myself that or to be told by others and in fairness I cope quite well.On balance my Mum expects me to come back fighting my corner which I try to do for her no matter what the situation.

As they say at my local-port - 'To reach a port we must sail, sometimes against the wind and sometimes against it.But we must not drift or lie at anchor'
Such is my life, that's a great saying.

1982- the season we went down. So sure we would bounce right back up. Took us 6 long seasons.

Those were hard years for the city as a whole let alone the club. Bits of Leeds city centre were falling apart coupled with crippling unemployment in a lot of areas in or surrounding Leeds. Was still a great place to grow up though with long hot summers spent in Roundhay Park or anywhere else you could kick a ball or ride a bike.

God Roundhay Park had some great concerts in the 1980s - Rolling Stones, Springs****, Madonna, Genesis, Michael Jackson, Simple Minds etc.
