Very disappointed with yesterday’s outcome, have mellowed a bit since.
First half I thought we played well in parts, came back well from going behind to a cracking goal from their striker Morton. He was a real handful. We could have had more than 2 goals. Our midfield was dominant. Some great bits of play.
Second half we got done in my opinion tactically. Grayson is no mug, they played to their strengths, exploited our weakness and shut down our threats ( ogbenny )
2 of their goals, first one and the free kick was top quality finishing.
Can’t figure why Rathbone came off unless injured. Lindsay was carry a shoulder injury for large part. Whilst Wes Harding has been great for us and versatile hes not a specialist left back has got caught / knocked off the ball almost identically yesterday with the Wednesday game. Harsh on him constantly moving around.
Whilst we weren’t fully at it yesterday I think it’s only fair to give them some credit for adjusting and playing well.
We had plenty of shots without testing the goalie much.
I actually do like our 3-5-2 formation, 4 at the back is mostly a waste of a player and we get overrun in midfield.
Learn from yesterday but move on.
Yes but if with your 3 at the back you’ve got a right footer playing on the left it gets diluted down to 2 and a bit at the back.

A point exploited by the Fleetwood manager

Trying to be constructive. Ogbene he's got no end product. Sadlier he can cross a good ball from the right but he's not quick so you need someone like Barlaser setting him up getting run on opposition full back then an instant cross. That's just one of tactics at the moment that isn't working with Ogbene at the moment. Give Vickers a go in goal Victor errors are creeping in. Formation & defence depends on whose available but recognised centre backs we are short of & a fit left back.

Ogbene definitely isn’t the same player he was before his long term injury, he’s also become predictable and full backs know he is unlikely to cut inside. Also he’s receiving the ball deeper into midfield giving the full back a bit of recovery time as he approaches him.

I can’t agree with the goalkeeper comments, even the best keepers will let in goals if the players in front of him aren’t closing down and are allowing the opposition to have a pop at goal.

Also with 3 at the back and 5 in midfield at least one of the midfielders has to provide the grit, having 5 nice “ after you Claude” type players only puts further pressure on the back 3

Agree need some steel in midfield at the moment that's Lindsay so 2 out 3 from Wiles Barlaser Rathbone. Problem with that is going on creativity & stamina Rathbone would be the one to miss out. Would have been Wiles but yesterday showed he's got it after twice there was a negative reaction towards him from the crowd once via manager then he finished the game strongly.

    Viktor

    Bola
    Wood
    Ihiekwe
    Harding

    Lindsay
    Barlaser
    Rathbone

    Ferguson LW
    Smudge
    Ogbene RW

Most balanced formation and team I could get out. Ideally I'd want Grigg in the team and the only way to do that would be to put ferguson at LB and have him having to cover a lot of ground up and down the left. Have Rathbone playing the left of the three to also occupy some of that space if Grigg was up top with Smudge. Without Grigg that's what I'd give a go. Seems balanced to me and gets players in their best positions.

    Der Kapitän

If he is fit then I'm not playing a makeshift centre back instead of him. If we had Angus then fine but Odoffin isn't a natural CB if you ask me. Looks like a holding mid.

Bola looked good at Doncaster, played practically 90 minutes. Big, strong, athletic, decent passing etc. Think he could be given a chance at LB, either him or Ferguson there for me. Mattock physically isn't there, for me anyway. Technically he can play but his body would get found out in a league game, IMO.

Hopefully we get some positive news with regards to Angus soon
