I'd have got Brooks back and give him a game as he did well in the friendlies

For me, Burchnall’s made the right decision. Brooks is developing nicely. Competitive first team action is a big jump from friendlies. I wouldn’t want to knock Brooks confidence and that could certainly happen if he’s put into the 1st team too early.

We have extended Anthony Patterson's loan deal until 9 January.

The Sunderland goalkeeper has impressed head coach Ian Burchnall after joining us last month to cover for the injured Sam Slocombe. And, despite our number-one nearing a return to action, the head coach wants to keep Patterson in his plans.
"We'd like to say a big thank you to Sunderland for agreeing to let Anthony stay with us," said Burchnall. "He gives us very strong competition and both he and Sam will benefit from being pushed hard by each other every day. "Our involvement in the cup competitions, which Anthony will be eligible for, makes the autumn/winter period a busy one for us so this move ensures we have excellent cover to see us through."
