Makes you wonder if Line of duty was based on fact.

The police are either corrupt, inept or restricted by Home Office policy.

I met up with a flatbed truck whilst driving on a narrow country lane a few years ago.
There was a space to pull in on his side so as there was no space on my side, I stopped expecting him to slow down and pull over
so we could both pass each other.

Instead he carried on hell for leather, mounted the grass bank which caused his vehicle to tilt at 45 degrees. His offside wing mirror smashed mine and scraped along the side of my van.

By the time I'd got out of the van he was out of sight. Two police cars came by and I flagged them down.
I explained what had happened and suggested one put on the blue light and pull him over. They were more interested in checking every minor detail about me. Van tax, insurance, ownership, MOT were all run through their computer. I was asked where I'd been, where I was going and they went round my vehicle looking for defects.
Having found nothing they could do me for they issued me with a crime number and said they would investigate. I said "How are you going to do that? The other driver is in the next County by now."

Unless I'm forced to for insurance purposes, I'll never bother getting the police involved again.
