    Met Chief Sorry!

Is that it! Are we saying now that any girl who is arrested should not go in a police car alone? I would suggest any girl arrested by a lone male officer should certainly not go in a car by herself and surprised they have not made a statement on that! They could easily call for back up.

As for the offender it should be eye for an eye not life in a cushy jail. Poor wife and kids.

Would have thought that "best practice" would be to have female officers present anyway whenever dealing with female offenders/suspects, not least because it might protect male officers from false allegations of ***ual behavior but this is obviously not always possible given current levels of policing and back up may take time to arrive. One of the questions that has got to be asked is around the vetting, recruitment and subsequent monitoring of police officers. I have a lot of sympathy for police officers who often have a very difficult job and deal with the most troubled and troublesome elements of society as well as facing violent or abusive behaviour on a regular basis and having to deal with traumatic situations like RTAs. It would be nice to think that police officers could all be trusted but, of course, we all know that has probably never been the case as historic examples of ***ual harassment and racism within the forces have shown, let alone the examples of "bent coppers" . As with so many things it seems to me that much of the problem is down to under-funding.

With current technology surely it would be possible for video contact to be made to a female officer based at a police station when a male officer is dealing with a single female?

Cressida D I c k has the most apt name that could have possible have been bestowed upon her by birth.

    The very epitome of tokenism.

If she were a man of the same sub standard abilities rather than a woman and a lesbian she’d still be sticking parking tickets on cars.

It’s hard to actually describe just how out of her depth this woman is.

She has presided over some of the most inept policing this country has ever seen and yet she’s never held to account.

Even today, the senior officer who investigated the Sarah Everard murder, he has since retired, was asked about whether D I c k should be fired and his response......

“What kind of signal would that send out after a case like this if the woman chief was sacked”......!!

In other words, it’s all about how things “look”, so once again tokenism wins over ability.

Who’s to say that a straight female is not the right choice for head of the Met Police.......it could well be the case or it could be a straight male.......what it should be is the BEST person for the job.

This D I c k woman is the most uninspiring, limp as a lettuce leaf Nomark that could possibly be heading up such an important institution.

Makes you wonder if Line of duty was based on fact.

The police are either corrupt, inept or restricted by Home Office policy.

I met up with a flatbed truck whilst driving on a narrow country lane a few years ago.
There was a space to pull in on his side so as there was no space on my side, I stopped expecting him to slow down and pull over
so we could both pass each other.

Instead he carried on hell for leather, mounted the grass bank which caused his vehicle to tilt at 45 degrees. His offside wing mirror smashed mine and scraped along the side of my van.

By the time I'd got out of the van he was out of sight. Two police cars came by and I flagged them down.
I explained what had happened and suggested one put on the blue light and pull him over. They were more interested in checking every minor detail about me. Van tax, insurance, ownership, MOT were all run through their computer. I was asked where I'd been, where I was going and they went round my vehicle looking for defects.
Having found nothing they could do me for they issued me with a crime number and said they would investigate. I said "How are you going to do that? The other driver is in the next County by now."

Unless I'm forced to for insurance purposes, I'll never bother getting the police involved again.

Personally I think her position is untenable after multiple high profile failings on her watch, however because she has Khan and Priti Patel looking nervously over their shoulders she'll be kept in her post.

Independent body needed to rattle some cages and bring about the change that's needed in the police, all of that said there are bad guys in every walk of life - what's wrong here is how they deal with it.
