I assume by 'us' you mean the players and maybe the manager. Many Notts fans already know this from past experience of watching our successes under Neil Warnock, Sam Allardyce and Steve Cotterill. I don't go back as far as Jimmy Sirrell and from what I've seen on TV, his teams could play the passing game very well, but I bet they still knew how to mix it up.

We were fine for 70 minutes and looked comfortable but needed to be more ruthless and get that second goal. As such Woking were nothing special but they did what a lot of clubs do at this level is they get the basics right in both boxes and used their height, physicality and set pieces to their advantage.

The most alarming part of today for me was how easy we collapsed and crumbled between 70-80 minutes after conceding the first goal to then concede another two and it was game over by 80 minutes and at home as well. Woking have taught us that you can play all the football you like but it's what you do in both boxes that count in the end.

This is exactly the type of game we should have been getting something from especially at home if we are to get automatically promoted. We have to be tougher, stronger and composed against the big physical sides who use set pieces to their advantage. These sides may not play attractive football but they know how to play effective football at this level.

It's a sobering reminder of how far we have fallen that today is the first time we have conceded four goals at this level in normal time. Hopefully it's a wake up call that we cannot take any team for granted and that we have to remain switched on and focused for the full 90 minutes and kill teams off when we are on top as we were on 70 minutes.
No points for style, only goals count. We have to be able to mix it up more.

Yes that’s what I meant by us as in the players and manager. For me it’s about being effective and good at what you do if you want to get the three points regularly. Woking are good physically and a danger from set pieces which for me is the bedrock of a typical team at this level. Lincoln under the Cowleys were masters at that kind of style. Maybe it will take the loan players time to settle and grow into our style. As a unit we do need to be really good at what we do so that it is effective. I don’t think trying to play Woking at their own game would have worked in the grand scheme of things today. We basically were masters of our own downfall today from what I saw. However we should be able to mix things up as and when required much like the teams under the managers you’ve mentioned if we want to be successful.

Terrible result on the back of some very poor recent performances.
We've played three top half teams and taken one point. Heaviest defeat since we've been down here in the scrap heap following on from our lowest ever league finish last season.
We played far better today but just a few minutes of direct football and a few crosses and we were battered.
We are crying out for a midfield partner to help Palmer, it's a pity we couldn't keep Reeves but until we beef up the middle we'll always give teams a chance against us.
Burchnall needs to be a bit less of a puritan and get real as to what the National League requires. Barrow, Harrogate, Sutton and Hartlepool were all hard running, could play a bit but competed first and foremost and made goalkeepers work. The last three games haven't required the opposition to make a save of note.

Don't stress. We were never promotion possibilities this season anyway. Tippy tappy doesn't catch monkey. Go direct. Win title. Burch needs to have an awakening for next season. Or say goodbye.

Is IB actually suited to this League?

2 more poor results in the next couple of games and watch 1 thousand fall off the gate.

I was concerned last season when the kid from Crewe was seen as the short-term solution to Doyle’s absence, and that’s been repeated by the “nice” footballers we’ve brought in over the summer. Kyle Wootton embodied that niceness in his post-match interview - lovely guy, but give me a scowling Iain McCulloch-type any day.

It can’t be a surprise to the owners that this is a tough, physical league and that the teams that thrive are tough, physical and quick - and can also play football. We seem to keep on prioritising the latter quality over all others.

With no game next weekend, it’s ***** that we pick up three points on Tuesday against the team two places above us. Should tell us a lot about this side and the manager.
I agree with all of that apart from the Doyle part.

He was the first name on the team sheet for 2 years and we saw plenty of embarrassing capitulations during that time! Although none involved conceding four goals, I'll grant you that.
