Oh for a 'Killer' type centre half!....and tactically aware that they'd used all their subs!

It's also 30 years ago this month that we made out last ever visit to Highbury.
5 defeats and 1 draw in our last 6 visits, our only win on that ground coming way back in 1924 with a goal by Donald Cock who ended up joining Arsenal later that same season. We did win five times at their old ground. I wonder if we'll ever play a league game at their new one.

I was there at that one as well....a strange ground where you could move all around the terracing from one end to the other without stewarding!

Don’t remember the game, but I do remember drinking in The Flask in Hampstead beforehand. The two facts may be related.

Arsenal used to be the team I watched when I first lived in London in the 80s - I can recall almost 60,000 for some cup ties and standing at the back of a very packed North Bank. Lovely old ground, Highbury. Never been to the Emirates, but maybe we’ll draw them in the third round of the FA Cup one day…

We were dreadful for most of the game, but those last few minutes were wonderful. I was at the front of the Main Stand terrace, in line with the penalty area, and remember a copper saying “You’ve cheered up” after the winner went in. I’d been shivering and miserable 5 minutes earlier.

That really was a turning point, as I think we’d lost four in a row just prior to it. We beat Sunderland 2-0 the following week and while results were erratic, we went on to have some great performances - even when we lost 4-0 and 1-0 against Liverpool, who are one of the few teams I’ve never seen us beat. Well, Liverpool and Dover.
