The game is played at a much higher pace these days than in the 80s.

Its possible Niskanen took a knock on Wednesday which is why he only played 60 minutes on Wednesday and only 45 today. Unless you are in the dressing room you are never going to know this stuff.

Yep, and whilst I said before the game that I would trust Tam's decision, it was ultimately the wrong one and he has to take most of the blame for today. Disappointing that players given their chance failed to take it though and they deserve their share of the blame too.

I did actually say unless he was injured. Is the game faster now? Doesn't look that way to me tbh. Either way, I still can't see why professional players can't manage 1 extra game in a month.

That was so frustrating today, because it felt such a winnable match, I honestly think Ross County, Motherwell have been much tougher opponents at Tannadice than St Johnstone in recent weeks, but game was lost in first half. I can see why Courts made the changes, and you are never going to know if these players are good enough if you don't play them, but not one of them stepped up to the mark. I honesty think you could have subbed our entire front line for Pawlett, Max, Nikensen after 20 minute mark today, and the manager probably would have liked to have done but was holding back not damage their confidence. Kerr Smith looked like a centre playing at right back, maybe that was part of reason Chalmers was so anon first half. Also meant we had to waste a our last sub on right back when we had a big centre forward on bench.

Second half we played decent, and kept trying to play football and going to full time, and fair play to their keeper for some great saves, but without seeing them again, you just feel a clinical striker in their wouldn't give him a chance with at least one of those opportunities. How the St Johnstone keeper got dropped by Scotland for the Rangers keeper is a joke.

I think this is the thing that should piss people (and Tam) off the most. Appere and Chalmers got their chance today and did nothing with it. Both guys have been around the first team for 3 years or so now, they aren't "kids", they need to step up when the manager and team needs them.

Appere and Chalmers put on loan and get Clark on the bench. All three should have been subbed within first 25 mins today. Big Max up front next week please against Hearts is a must.

    I agree with all said.

Before the game I thought ....... don't tinker with a team and structure that is working.
Also thought in Tam we trust.

Freemen is immense and so is Niskanen. Pawlett is like a new player this year.
My only problem is with Clark who I think loses the ball far too many times.
If Biamou is a target to knock down chances, hold up the ball. Lets get him on.

Thought we could have been a bit bolder when Smith came off. Was an opportunity to throw Biamou on alongside Clark.

I disagree about Clark. Links play well. Difference in second half was others prepared to run beyond him and got much closer to him in general. Don't think he loses the ball any more than our midfield 3 or our centre halves with their long diagonals.

Just seems an easy target at times. Undervalued with what he brings in my view. Don't think he could have done much more with his chances today. Edwards should do better with his second header and Pawletts chance (the first of the double save) was a poor miss. Those were the glaring opportunitues today
