    My Sunderland Match Day Travels

Going back to the Rotherham versus Sunderland game.
I travelled by train from Swinton to Rotherham, went for a drink with mates
    before the game.
After a good 5-1 win for the Millers, I went for my train at Rotherham station,
the platform was chocka block full of Sunderland fans.
Managed to get on the train, but the train did not stop at Swinton, Mexborough
& Conisborough, & carried onto Doncaster, there was police on board the train,
so they must have given instructions not to stop the train, until Doncaster.

After getting off the train, I saw the Addick / Sheffield train advertised on the boards,
so got on it, trouble was it went other way to Addick, so I got off at Bentley, crossed
    platforms.
I got a train for Doncaster, when getting into Doncaster railway station, i looked at the
timetable board, saw the Sheffield train, so went & got on it.
After a few minutes the guard announced on the tannoy, that the train was going to
    Sheffield, first stop Meadowhall.
I got off train before the doors shut.
I thought I'm heading to the ticket office, to look at all the train timetables, after checking
I saw a Sheffield train, stopping at Conisborough, Mexborough, Swinton etc, going from
platform 4, so like other people waited at platform 4.
Five minutes before it was due in, announcement made, a change of platforms.

I got in at 7.30pm, where as I should have got home just turned 5.30pm, our lass thought
I had gone back to pub.

Would have been quicker to walk. You'd have been in by 6.45 pm according to google maps. (Sorry to hear this Eric.)

Did you have a valid ticket for all those journeys?

Wonder if it's the transport police flexing their muscles.
There was a story a few weeks ago about Notts County fans being forced onto a Sheffield train to get back to Nottingham at Grimsby Station.
Despite having valid tickets for Nottingham direct and that being the next train, departing not too long after the Sheffield one

Another case of all football fans being treat like hooligans.

Just Swinton to Rotherham return, using my concession South Yorkshire bus pass cost £2.25
Had ticket checked Swinton to Rotherham by guard/ticket seller, then checked on my correct
train back to Swinton, same South Yorkshire transport police on this train, has before.
I explained what happened, lady guard/ticket seller, said don't worry we will get you back to
    Swinton, no extra charge.
