    I wouldn’t touch Chinese.

The one just off Stourbridge ring road on the way up to the football ground was raided back in the day.....they found half an Alsatian dog in there.

    I don’t trust the Chinese.

There is a Greggs Bakery Outlet on the site now.

Talking of Chinese I noticed that Lo's is still there on the High Street just a bit further down from the Fryer. Basic takeaway,, good and cheap, must have been there for nearly forty years now!
The George and Dragon, I have been in most pubs in Princes End. The George said Dragon used to be in Coseley as Tipton didn't start until the crossing, until Sandwell took over. In

The best fish and chips I’ve eaten over the past 50 years are at the chip shop I still use in Harrogate when I’m there

They have always cooked in beef fat like you mention BS and I swear by this method.

My dad always said that this method as used in Yorkshire was the best way to cook fish and chips and I’d totally agree.

Any fish and chips less than piping hot is yukky in my opinion.
I once knew a salesman who travelled the length and breadth of the UK, he told me the best fish and chips he ever had were from a shop in Harrogate. The best i’ve ever had personally are from and in no particular order, a) The Black Country Museaum (cooked in Beef fat like in Harrogate) b) Coverack on the Cornish coast, they display an newspaper article saying they are one of the top three shops in the country. C) Believe it or not, under the stand at half time when the Albion played Grimsby Town away in Div 3, I still remember the fish falling apart like dominos and the Albion fans all claiming they’d never had such nice fish, more than likely straight from the trawler only hours earl.

I’ve never quite understood why the Beef fat method isn’t used more widely, I once told my local chippy owner he should use it, surely it’s a money spinner? he said the Black Country Museum are able to do it because they’re a museum whereas he couldn’t in the general public domain.....maybe someone can explain that one.

No proper chippy unfortunately in the brum city centre, only ffing fries basically.

The Big John's chain is an abomination and cannot be classed as a chippy in my eyes as it is totally s hit.

When we go to my parents we get some from the Russell's Hall one mentioned above and it is really good. We used to go to Charlie's in Upper Gornal prior to going to this one.

The chip n whale holyhead Road is where we go after home games and that is OK.
