You're probably right in saying that nobody on here "accepts mediocrity", but some on here never seem to utter a single word of criticism whatever the result and whoever the opposition. You are a prime example Swale, when did you last criticise the club or the management? People like durham often get slated for their constant negativity, but you and a few others are the opposite side of that same coin. I really admire your constant positivity and it's something I try and copy in real life, but when I watch Notts I try really hard to say what I see without any bias. If I think we've played well then I'll say so, but if I think we were sh!t I'll also say so.

To quote a silly hashtag, #balancenotbias.

Accepting the result as a fact, as it has already happened, and moving on in hope of a much better one on Saturday is not the same as being content with it.
Now we're a fifth rate club and we are to be content with a draw from a winning position at Boring Wood.
That was a rhetorical question based on your earlier post where you seemed to think we'd done ok.

Yes. A team that plays in the National League and is currently in second place, on merit. We are currently below them. A point away at the team in second place is generally considered to be.....

    Oh what's the point ffs

Of course I'd much prefer us to be playing the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke, or even Lincoln again. But this "we are Notts County", "we are too big for the league" just sounds arrogant to me. Just like how we perceive Forest fans for living on past glories. Whenever new players sign and the interviewer talks about the ground, and how nice the changing rooms are it really makes me cringe.

Every team wants promotion from this league, and some have been run in the right way for much longer than us, so deserve to fight for their place alongside us. Thankfully we seem to finally be building things in the right way, so I am remaining positive & patient for our return up the leagues, whilst eating a cold slice of humble pie
    Like this.

The arrogance and plainly not accepting where we are can do as much damage IMO as anyone who is accused of happy clapping and acceptance at this level. Closing your eyes thinking back to the 80s and 90s and clicking your heels three times doesn't get you promotion. Sadly lol.

I understand why the quiet understated approach by the owners can easily be viewed as being conservative and unambitious but for me it was the over ambition and recklessness from two previous owners that are the main reasons for our decline and where we are now. That shouldn't be conveniently forgotten if you are also going to remember regularly competing against the big boys in the top 2 leagues.

Just my thoughts, opinion and certainly not fact.

Clearly there are two schools of thought on this subject, and the draw at little high flying non league outfit Borehamwood illustrates this perfectly.
I'd say there are three schools of thought - some who only see negatives, some who only see positives, and those of us in between.

It's great that folk like you are buying season tickets but perhaps the kind thing to have done was let the club go when it was in admin instead of killing folk with the dream of some good days again. There will need to be a step change in December otherwise I can see the remaining enthusiasm waning when reality strikes home.

Most would accept out ''natural position in the League'' would be lower mid table in League 1>>>League 2. We're a world away from that as the moment. As you say, ''step change needed'' as there's no way we're getting out of this League as things stand.

    Final points on Woots...

7 league goals from 17 games, that's on track for 18 from 44 I think. Business as usual and where did we finish the past two seasons?

For a team playing 1 striker with lots of creators behind him that won't translate into promotion. So when those gilt-edged chances go begging, the groans of anguish are the sound of our 4th season in non-league being sealed (and part of the reason we're down in 6th now). He's playing well and seems to improve his all-round game every year, but I'm sure the club's analysts are looking at this and know what's required and what output won't cut it.

Kyle talks about having a target but doesn't reveal it in interviews. It has to be 25, right? I think that's much more than a personal target, it's what we need him to hit to be promoted.

For me we got the best out of KW when we played him alongside Wes Thomas, had a good working relationship and understanding between them.

I half agree with you, because you are talking about what we need to be promoted rather than excuses why we shouldn't be. I do however think that Kyle Wootton would be a big loss for two reasons. Firstly we don't have anyone else in the squad who can do what he does, and secondly because I think within our budget restraints it will be hard to find anyone else who can do what he does.

Spot on, and now he is being marked by at least 2 defenders and being kicked to death..Well done to both Ardley and Burchnall if he decides to go..

It was a very low point when we were founder members of Division 4. Historically we are a midtable Division 3/ League 1 team. A few years in this crap league will see us as a midtable League 2 average team.

At least I did get to see the Sirrel/ Warnock promotions to the First Division but that is too few highlights over the years.
