The day I am happy that we got a point at Boreham Wood is the day hell will freeze over.
So you are saying a point away to the team 2nd to top in our league isn't good enough?
For whatever reason Boreham were 2nd so whatever they are doing must be half decent.
The problem result was away at eastleigh let's hope our point away at 2nd to top is the start of another run.

In isolation the result was fine, we can debate the ways all day long.
Ardley wasting our parachute money and failing to capitalise on our status as the big boys of the league through to his negative football designed not to lose. Respecting the point far to often instead of going for the three.
Budget wise I expect we are no longer top two in this league possibly 4/5th with which seems a conservative approach followed by our owners.
As it stands we are nicely placed to kick on it can go either way a full on push for the top spot or at worst a play off place.

I’ve a feeling the top brass have the, err, brass, to compete with anyone in this league…and at least the one above it, but they’re obviously weary of doing so….which has both its positives and negatives.

What slightly worries me is that they seem intent on using this style of football to achieve success, seemingly without another option. Is it the owners dictating how Neal Ardley and IB are to set up their sides to play, when perhaps both of them may see the flaws in it?

It is such a hard style to get right, and even more so at our level and requires the players to be 8/10 every game. It’s just not possible. Very often we don’t create enough chances to dominate or win games comfortably. I’d like to see us mix it up a bit more and get players like Wootton doing what they do best.

IB is playing the way he wants. The owners have there own ideas and got a coach/manager in that they feel can deliver.
We sign players we feel we can improve by playing a certain way. Most teams in the Prem and championship play a possession style of football. By getting our players playing this way, and players like Rodrigues flourishing (yet still a rough diamond) will have the odd scout at those levels looking - that’s where the money is and it’s there money we want. We don’t want to be accepting 100k off Bradford we want several hundred thousand and sell on clauses from much higher up. That’s our model. The owners want us to be self financing.
The hope is that we develop players and get promoted. You would think if Radar works then the 2 objectives will co-exist.

Correct, it could go either way. We are only 7 points off the automatic place, but if Wrexham, Stockport and Yeovil win their games in hand we drop down to 9th, so a playoff place is far from a certainty. One thing that gives me hope is that we haven't played any of the bottom four clubs yet, but knowing Notts we'll win at Grimsby and lose at Dover!
