That's harsh on Rùben, surely we rely heavily on two not one for our goals this season?#statattack

Still look on the bright side fella we've got a chance via the playoffs
Do you honestly think laddo that we have a chance of going up even via the play-offs? We will have even less of a chance if either Wootton or Rodrigues go in January. I would like nothing more than to see Notts back in the League, but ive not seen anything yet that gives me confidence of us doing so.. I hope i am proved wrong...

Confidence of going up is probably misplaced for any team, as I hope Chesterfield will prove. But of course we have a chance of promotion. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: in early 1973 we were well off the pace (down in 17th place at one point, I think) but came through magnificently to take 2nd place. That run was unlikely, but it happened.

I don’t expect us to be promoted, but I don’t see any reason why we can’t be promoted.

We definitely have a chance as does everyone in them. Obviously the chances increase the higher up the table we finish.

IF and once again it's a big IF one of our main two goalscorers go then we would have less of a chance IMO and fans confidence would naturally fall. But until that happens why worry about it, if they both stay and stay healthy not many sides will fancy facing this dynamic attacking duo.

Top spot is a big ask, a play off spot is very achievable and an absolute minimum requirement.

They are that dynamic its very seldom that we manage to score more than one or two goals in games, and thats even against the so called weaker tems. Its those frailties that will eventually cost us...How we miss having a Wes Thomas or Kristian Dennis in the side..

I’d agree with you until the last sentence as obviously our goals are being shared around, even if Wootton does sometimes look isolated up front.

My own opinion is that Burchnall would have been challenging for the top spot with this squad in 2019-20. The levels have been upped so much though by the big spenders that this squad isn’t equipped to challenge for the title this season. I thought we looked like title contenders at Grimsby and against Solihull for different reasons, but we haven’t been able to maintain that standard.

Of course it’s patently ridiculous that only the champions of this league get automatically promoted, but that’s another debate…

Yes, Wes Thomas used to score loads for us, didn’t he?

We do need to score more and beat lower placed sides for sure. Although saying that our record against top sides has been good so that is helpful in the playoffs where you are meeting top 7 sides.

We're we a better side when we did have Thomas and/or Dennis in the side?

I'd go as far as saying we miss Thomas more than Dennis this season.

But we seemed to create/score more when he was in the side, yes he missed some but he had pace which scares defenders.

I think losing Wes to covid last season was a big blow for us. You could see that the partnership between him and Woots was really starting to flourish. I can think of a few occasions when his determination to chase a lost cause resulted in winning/saving us points.

For those few weeks at the end of the cancelled 19/20 season we were (basically after Cal arrived). That’s the best we’ve been since we came down, but I would say this is easily the best we’ve been at this stage of the season out of the three years.
