Also Giid to see South Shields doing well, although when I checked out the results before I think they lost today but are still at the right end of the NPL table.

The original Gatehead club came from South Shields and was South Shields Adelaide formed 1899, joined the league in 1919 but went bust in 1930 and was taken over by Gateshead AFC.

They were always in the promotion hunt in the old 3rd North Div until a bad season in I think 1950's when the 3rd North and 3rd South were joined then split as the 3rd and 4th Gateshead went into the 4th then the bottom four had to apply for re-election.Gateshead although only 4th bottom were voted out, it was thought because the Southern clubs didn't want to travel the huge distances up north.
