Last week there was a topic on the DBF (Pravda) about Covid which had to be closed down because posters were posting their own opinion instead of towing the party line.

I fear it is never going to end if they get their way and in a smaller way fear that maybe just maybe they are right to be concerned.

I have never been a conspiricy theorist ever but the way this pandemic is panning out is strange and leads me to believe there may be more truth in it that Covid is indeed man (Chinese) made than I would have given credence to before. It is most certainly not running the expected course that previous pandemics have! I saying all that we surely have to learn to live with it and get on with our lives or Returnofrros will indeed be proved correct that lockdowns will be with us ad infinitum. The one area where I would give ground is in the wearing of masks. I agree that wearing one gives the wearer little or no protection due to the airborne particles managing to easily get through normal everyday masks. The same particles will only be partially captured when exhaled into the mask of the wearer by the wearer. But, again, the larger droplets from sneezes and runny noses are captured in masks stopping them dropping onto others, surfaces etc. and therefore go someway towards stopping infections. Masks imo are largely useless in stopping the wearer getting infected but go a fair way to stop the wearer infecting others. Therefore again imo it is very selfish not to wear a mask unless exempt and I reckon we must be one of the unhealthiest nations on earth outwith Covid if the sheer volume of the number of folk who cannot, refuse, or just plain don't bother to wear one are taken into account.

Hopefully useless Boris and nasty Nippy will leave us all alone, let us get on with it and one day, hopefully soon, it will all be over and we can get back to normality if the politicians let go. I long for the day when the NHS goes back to protecting us rather than 'needing' protected itself or needing "saved" and where the health service workers are appreciated, yes, but no more than the polis, teachers, shopworkers, scaffies etc., etc., etc.
    Thanks for the wee acknowledgement.

I feared this from the start.

Only ends when people stop complying or its here for evermore.....in fact I think it's too late already.....country will never go back to the way it was and restrictions in place for evermore, lockdowns every winter.

Masks as to are aware I don't agree with.....pure theatre.

I think the majority of people do not want lockdown. That's something that politicians of all persuasions need to take into account. The Omicron variant does not appear to be as lethal as previous variants. Why do we have to flatten the curve etc? Can we look after ourselves without a lockdown at least until the medics can prove that the SA experience is replicated here

We are semi lockdown now BCram.

They don't take into account especially in Scotland as it still seems popular up here.

It isn't more lethal as the South Africans have been saying for weeks

I heard one of the independent sage guys say on telly today, "it isn't better until we are all safe".......he meant the world.

He then said lockdowns should have nothing to do with elected officials and made up of a panel of and I quote "the great and the good".....or doctors, law makers, behaviour psychologists.

It's absolutely terrifying the control these people want over our one and only life.

He also wanted FULL lockdown immediately.

They are attempting and succeeding in changing the world.

The SA covid experience is relevant to what might happen here. As long as the government keep talking about following the science they need to fund scientists who can argue against SAGE. These experts have been wrong with their predictions so why can't we have some others having their voices heard?

See deerangeds first post on subject....all about control.

There are loads of scientists and doctors who are not being heard.

I fear it's too late though......I don't want to go over old ground but Mr Hitchens and lord Sumption were warning of the dangers from day 1.

The official opposition is now back bench Tory MPs

Sturgeon and Johnson will bring in another 3 week lockdown that will last month's....rinse repeat fail.

    Let people live

Tory back benchers are not the official opposition. They took a decision to bring home to Boris that his advisors have no power. A timely lesson and one that Boris will appreciate. He seems to me to be struggling to get out of the Sage experts grip. Needs some public support to encourage him to not do what the medics want.

When was last time labour opposed?

They want longer, tougher, more comprehensive restrictions.

SNP the same and that will be the route once more funding is secured.

    Liberals arnt liberal.

He can't get out of the grip as msm the press and unions are cheerleaders for this.....sage are just the lightening rod...and not withstanding he's a lying cowardly incompetent.

Sage "experts" in doom, their modelling from 9 days ago already miles out but still they continue with the fear and doom.

Had an hour to kill in town today, depressing.

Stuck my head in a few pubs, mostly empty, people look bewildered but still mostly masked up even in the open air.

Very few hospitalisations, very few people dying but....on and on it goes.

We were supposed to be getting a report on the severity of Omicron today but now delayed until tomorrow - obviously not the news the fear mongers were hoping for so need longer to invent a cause to justify their forecasts.
