It broke my heart but also enraged me when reading Redders book and the way he described leaving Oakwell cos they wouldn't give him parity in wages with the top earners. I know he was knocking on but at the end of the day he spent a further 2 seasons in the Premiership wi Charlton and Bradford. He was prepared to sacrifice laikin at the top level to help us try and get back up.

When he left we brought in Kevin Richardson who was with all due respect, way over the hill. We also brought in Robin Van De Laan who was a very good player but not in Redders class imo. Meks thi think- the transfer fees and wages that we paid Richardson and Van de Laan would've easily covered a Redders wage rise. The board fecked up monumentally wi that one I feel as they did by appointing Hendrie too hastily.
One of the biggest mistakes this club ever made letting Redders leave in my opinion Pass .

He was at the top of his game , he was a slow burn as a younger player and initially when he joined us in 1991 .

14 goals from midfield in the PL in a relegated team ....... ffs !!!

Imagine him and Hignett together in our midfield back then ?

Redders was our driving force , inspiration and the best captain I've ever seen at Oakwell .

Complete legend , our Robson , our Keane , our Kompany .

He loved the club , all he wanted was paying what he rightly should have received .

Tinkler was on more money , feck me .
