    Zak Brunt Signs

This from the Basildon Canvey Southend Echo (don't laugh).

"Notts County keen to sign Sheffield United's Zak Brunt after loan spell with Southend United ends.

NOTTS County are keen on signing Zak Brunt on loan, Echosport understands.

The Sheffield United midfielder has just completed a three month loan spell with Southend United.

But it is now uncertain whether or not Brunt will be staying with Blues.

The 20-year-old made 10 appearances while with the Shrimpers but Notts County – who are sixth in the National League – are now also keen on signing the midfielder until the end of the season."

Of all the positions this is the one area I feel we have strength in depth. Missing from yesterday were JoB and Ruben. Roberts on the bench.
If any position needs strengthening I would look at another Forward.
Then there is Richardson. I hope Notts are in touch with Forest about seeing if we can keep the lad until the end of the season.

True, I would tend to be looking at forward options, but ne'er mind, the more the merrier.

Which goes against the message from the summer. A small squad, with mainly our own players.
My feeling is that Notts and IB want cover for COVID.

Saw this rumour knocking around last night.. Brunt sounds like a great prospect. Hope we’re not after him because we’re planning for Ruben to be leaving…

Saw that pop up on Twitter a week or 2 ago that his loan spell was ending and people saying he needed to be loaned out to league sides, sounds like a very good player.

There could be a greater danger of Ruben leaving this January than Wootton, because Ruben's the one under a longer contract who might potentially command the biggest transfer fee.

I wonder how many teams would be willing to make an irresistible offer for Wootton at this stage, when he becomes available for free in the summer anyway. I suppose it depends how highly his suitors rate him and how desperate they are, but the bid would surely have to be a decent six-figure sum, otherwise his value to us is greater if he stayed for the rest of the season. Assuming that the interest would come from no higher than League One, there are only a handful of teams that have such money to spend, and there's quite a leap in standard between the National league and League One so it would be a risk.

How or why Palmer is playing in this league is beyond me, hes looked a class above every game I've seen him play, but for some reason I can't see anyone coming in for him, he'd be very difficult to replace though for sure.

Sunday showed that we don't really miss Roberts that much if he's not in the team, he's been pretty quiet this season and i think the idea of him being sold on for decent money has dissapeared for now unless he goes on a run like he did when he first came.

We don't need cover up front unless Wootton goes, anyone coming in would be sat on the bench like Mitchell has been so it's just a waste of money. Mitchell and more so Sam are still hard to judge imo, Slater said before Sunday Eli had played a combined 14 minutes of football this season, you can't judge a player fairly on that, it's barely enough time to get up to speed in a match if it was from one appearance but its from multiple cameos towards the end of games.

He looked a handful for Wrexham and was involved in quite a few decent moves, the cross for the header was a difficult chance if even he couldn't get over the ball to aim it down and the other chance was a bad touch but it pretty much just hit him, if they'd fell to Wootton and he'd missed I doubt anyone even brings them up post match. There's still a player in there worth looking at imo

Believe Palmer may have had bit of a attitude problem in the past, if I remember reading correctly before we signed him, but ones loss is our gain, by all accounts seems very settled here, playing well & regular
